SEO optimizing the Totse Text Files

Is it possible to optimize the old text files for search engines? I can't help but think that the outdated format of the old-ass articles may hinder search engines from actually reading the content well.

Not without a lot of manual work. It may help to put some meta tags in the html but i doubt it's worth the effort. google indexes them pretty good.
