Operation 'Fast and Furious'

For those of you that don't know, this was an operation by the BATF with the goal of building a case against Mexican cartels. The idea was to let people linked to the cartels illegally acquire firearms through straw purchases and transport them back to Mexico. Predictably, the plan fell apart. The BATF lost track of many of the firearms, and some of them were used in murders, a helicopter shooting, etc. The agent that drew attention to this sham operation was fired. The ATF director has since resigned.

I am appalled at the stupidity of the operation. What did the BATF think Mexican cartels would do with thousands of tactical rifles? Put them in display cases for a few months until the BATF was ready to follow up?

Seriously if Bush was still in office the libs would be calling for his head on a stick but we cant say anything bad about the present admin because we might hurt someones feelings and be called a racist.

It's BATFE. And two of the overseers from the BATFE were promoted. I don't know how that is logical, unless the entire operation was set up to eventually push stricter gun laws on Americans.

Antigun people- Its not the law abiding gun owner that kills people, its the criminals who ignore the laws and the BATFE that supplies them with weapons.
Yeah the local news channel was baffled at that.

What's the name of the guy that the US send down their to Mexico?

You would have thought america would have thought about this. They have been buying small arms for third world countries for years. This has resulted in angry, dangerous, armed populations. Might not be a wise move in doing so with a country you have a land border with however.
