The most impressive part is using the laser scan to follow the track - as soon as i saw it i started thinking about building a massive version using some 80/20 and old engines from somewhere.

I'm fairly sure that if i did build an 80/20 scaled version of that i could sell it to a logistics/mining or agribusiness.

As ingenious as that is it is utterly pointless. I kept waiting for something spectacular with the balls being shot out or something, anything, at the end. But it was just a big elaborate circle. Not to take away from the creators imagination or engineering skills.

    utterly pointless.

Developing skills is not a wasted endevour. And judging from the popularity of the video the enterainment value is huge - if it was a science fair i would award him first prize.

Note the implication that the creator was male.

The creation was pointless in that it served no practical application.

^This one was not pointless. At least the energy spent produces something instead of just moving balls back to where they started.
