My ISP

I'm not really a computer informed person, so I have a question about my ISP.

Is it really just a fucking person sitting behind the computer looking through all my shit? I don't understand how this shit works. I think my ISP is blocking some sites I go on. Can I get my ISP to unblock these sites? I know they're the cyberpolice but can I backtrace them? Or have I dun goof'd?

You can get your ISP to unblock some times if you give them a call and ask them to unblock several specific ports. Other than that, you can always use a proxy. It sounds complicated but it's quite easy. There's lots of info on google.

..but consequences will never be the same.

I recommend you stop trying to get on those CP websites, Daily. They'll get you into trouble.

Other than ringing your ISP, you could use the program Tor to visit those particular websites. You've probably heard of it. Or just use a proxy, that would probably be the easiest way.

I've never actually heard of/experienced an ISP blocking websites, except from in other countries. Does this shit actually happen?

If you think ISP's pay for technicians to monitor customers traffic you'd be wrong lol. As much as it's nice to assume that, that would be the government and large corporations that might have the funds and paranoia to justify doing so. What a Network team/staff/technician/administrator/etc. would do is monitor the traffic per node. They can log the traffic input and output per IP or node to see which areas are heavily dense and saturated and need improved, or to see who might be the resource hog.

"Technically" it is possible for your IP to snoop on individual things you ar doing besides which hosts you are requesting and so forth, predominately used for determining child porn or piracy related cases. This can be done via Deep Packet Inspection but is still in its infancy and used only on the RAREST of cases due to the massive amounts of traffic it has to sift through. The resources and time it needs to complete makes it an inappropriate way for individually stalking people (ie. Big Brother). It is however possible just not going to be used on a wide scale any time soon. You're talking about damn near super computers needed to monitor a mid-sized city suburb like mine. Take a look into it sometime, it is scary but technologies are in the work that can easily counter-act any DPI system in place or being used on the small level that it can be used.
