Just take it from someone who knows. The LEAST amount of gear/shit you can get away with carrying, the better.
I've been homeless off and on since i was 15. and traveling light is the key to staying happy as a homeless person. your body is your new home, and you want it to feel good. carry as little as possible at all times.
