The Tetrahedron

I translated this from Liber Azerate a few years back and thought it was interesting.

The tetrahedron represents our causal, time & space bound universe. Its 4 points form the 3 spatial dimensions, height, width and depth, and the fourth dimension which is time.

The tetrahedron also represents the "formed" elements earth air fire and water as well as the planes of cosmic existence (and sometimes their anticosmic counterparts) which are the spiritual, mental, astral and physical planes.

The fifth element, or the acausal fifth dimension which is called in the dark tradition "the black flame" "the formless pearl" or "Kingus Blood" is beyond the four formed elements. When it is set in conjunction with the four other elements the tetrahedron is converted into a pentagram.

Therefore the tetrahedron is used in rituals where the magician wants to seperate the four external elements from the inner black flame and to symbolize that he carries within himself the power which is beyond the formed world but still, through quintessence, has the power to control, change, or annihilate all that is formed.

So during rituals in which the tetrahedron is used, it is activated by the magicians black flame, which in turn controls all the formed dimensions, elements, and planes.

The tetrahedron can be visualized, painted in blood, sculpted from clay, or any method to create a 2D or 3D image.

The image can then be used as a focal point for mental rituals, meditation, or any other rite where the magician wants to act as the fifth element. He could, for example, paint a sigil in his blood that represents a change he wants to create on the physical, astral, mental, or spiritual plane on, under, or inside the tetrahedron (depending on how it is built) and then, in the following order activate it with invoking pentagrams: Earth, Water, Air, Fire. Draw the pentagrams over the tetrahedron. Next activate the "invoking pentagram of spirit" by drawing a pentagram with a dagger from the groin to left shoulder, left shoulder to right hip, right hip to left hip, left hip to right shoulder, and back to the groin. Visualize the black flaming pentagram, which raises power from within.

He should then direct the acausal energies toward the tetrahedron and sigil while intensely visualizing his desire for at least 15 minutes and then burn the sigil in the flame of the altar candle and unleash the energies imbued into it by the ritual.

In this way the magician becomes the fifth element and his desire manifests on all planes.

See beyond the forms and seek the essence!
