Non-genuine Windows 7 issue

I've had this problem before and I posted on Zoklet about it, but one of the mods said it wasn't allowed...so I'm hoping it can slide here at Totse. My version of Windows 7 is not genuine, as I'm sure at least a few of yours aren't either. I have my Windows update turned off and all of that, but I ran a few clean up/tune up programs the other day and it seems to have tossed something up and now I'm getting prompted once again to get a genuine version of Windows, which I'd rather not do because that shit is expensive.

Last time this happened to me I downloaded this thing from TPB that deleted a certain file which stopped these prompts from coming up, but I don't remember which file it was or how I could find it, and I don't want to download anything to do it for me again because i just don't think it's safe. If some of you here can help me out with this it would be very much appreciated. I think the issue of my Windows not being genuine is fucking with my internet connections and that is just not good.

Get linux. Honestly it's easier to fuck with a linux distro than play around with cracked copies of windows.

I would go Linux, but from what I understand that OS is HORRIBLE for gaming, and that's just about all I do on the computer.

Oh, yeah it's bad for gaming. I dunno how to work with cracked windows. Cracked OSX is way easier to find and use I think.

Hmm..I may look into that if I can't get anything to work out with this. I love OSX.

Where could I find a Snow Leopard OS for a Windows computer? I looked on Demonoid but they all seem to be for Macs. What exactly is the process of getting a Mac OS on a Windows computer? I would like to completely replace Windows 7 with Snow Leopard if possible.

You'd have to do the hackintosh thing. No idea how that's done as I've never attempted it.

    There you go: http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/10895-RemoveWAT-An-entirely-Windows-contained-activation-solution.

You need to use Windows 7 BIE activated version. I use it and it works without getting raped. Just check the updates and look out for one Activation Technology update and that's all.

Its caused by an update - find the update and uninstall it. Then run that patch Dfg linked to. After this point, I turned off updates completely, but its up to you.

Dfg, thanks for the link but I downloaded and ran the program and it seems I've already done that before. My WAT is already removed.

Trx, it can't be an update because I've had my updates turned off for months now. I don't know what's up with it but I guess I'll just leave it alone until something serious happens. I don't know what else to do.

If you don't mind doing a fresh install, I can link you to torrents easily.

That particular update is pretty old so it still might be a possible cause - its number KB971033.

No such thing lol, nearly 100% of all Apple software and products for Macs doesn't even require a crack because they don't have copy protection, the most is a serial number I believe. Their margins are too low for piracy to be a big issue, plus Mac lovers love their Macs and would buy software regardless of its overpriced figure.

FYI OP there are a half million ways to keep your cracked OS legit, I've never bought a Microsoft OS since 95 and have no issues. There is ONE update that you probably updated that caused this and uninstalling it does nothing. Once you install it it permanently stays there because all it does is check to see if your copy is legit or not. If not it bugs you like you're dealing with.

    False.

If you properly activated your Windows by:

    - Installing from an Untouched Windows 7 DVD
    - Running Daz's 7Loader 1.9.2

Then that update should pose no problem for you. I'm running several PCs running in this format and the OS is perfectly genuine.

If you went the retarded way and used removeWAT instead of 7Loader, you're pretty much screwed. You can reinstall removewat but the WGA would be removed.

Dfg, a fresh install IS an option but I really really doubt I'll go that way. Too much shit on my computer I don't want to lose, and both of my USB ports are fucked so I can't transfer anything to an external.

Dysgraphia, I'd like to know more about this thing you speak of that makes Windows genuine or whatever.

Use removeWAT. It won't make your OS genuine, but rather it'll remove WGA [Windows Genuine Advantage] the reg keys that makes it able to detect if your Windows is a pirated copy.

Just run removeWAT and restart. You'll be able to update and stuff. But I doubt you can download WGA-verified apps like Windows Security Essentials.

I should have said illicit copy or "it's easier to pirate OS X" but I'm lazy sometimes and I did use the wrong term. The version I used only needed a serial, which was provided. Ridiculously easy.

Aren't there retail versions of 10.6.3 floating on the web?

A friend of mine got his off a torrent just stuck it in, no serial.

There are retail ones too. Maybe it didn't require a serial. Fuck this was ages ago when I installed 10.4 so I can't remember if it needed a serial or not. Now that you mention it I probably didn't need a serial. Mac software is so unbelievably easy to pirate that it's almost sad.

Serial Box was the best program I ever found for serials. It's just a database you can search. I got so much free shit from that program.

    It's because Apple's concern isn't copyright infringements.

Never used Serial Box or found a reason to. Most apps I've downloaded came with their keygens.

Wait...what? I'm referring to the Microsoft Update KB971033 that disables pirated copies. It isn't removable by conventional means ie. uninstalling. There is no other update besides that which does that and there are other ways for your copy to be reverted but I take into account most people who steal software aren't retarded enough to try and install from a legit DVD which would be pointless because the CD Keys are only valid for one user. Not to mention the BIE copy is the main one going around, pre-cracked, no serial needed.

Don't see the point in those bootloaders and what not but I guess they have there use if you managed to not install the BIE version. If you ask me after 14 years of pirating people make shit much harder than it needs to be by not being aware how to deal with pirated software. Just the "It's free!" part and the meat and potatoes of how it was cracked goes out the window.

But yes removeWAT should work. That was the one I was trying to think of earlier but was pressed for college.

If you're referring to BIE as the release group, then why even bother downloading it?

You can download 'untouched' copies straight from the digital river's leeched links or just download an .iso from online.

If people would stop meddling with precracked OS' then they might get it right. Simply download a Win7 DVD, install. Use the boot loader 1.9.2 and it's genuine. No need to get paranoid [oh noezzz i installed KB971033] about it.

As for the pre-activated OS going around, I've only seen Windows 7 Ultimate, and I'd rather activate myself which is a 100% guaranteed success.

Yes because Windows Ultimate is the all-in-one OS that you need, no reason for "The Scene" to release any version below that although they do also crack the Enterprise version which is pretty much the same thing as Ultimate with minor differences few would ever notice. I guess if you want to take the risk applying the one in a million cracks out there then you're free to go that route IMO but the scene hasn't let me down to date and that Microsoft Patch applies to all versions pre-cracked or cracked after you installed a legit version. You have to manually disable the update and or permanently hide it and you wont have any issue in the future with updates once that's done.

AFAIK the patches out there now just do that part for you when you apply them although I'm not 100% for certain since I've never needed to use them given I've always downloaded pre-cracked Scene releases which some pirates probably wont know what the fuck I'm referring to when I say "The Scene".

There are 100% leeched digitalriver links online.

That's where I got my copies from.

Ultimate is far too heavy on low-ended laptop.s Which is why I tend to use a defaulted OS like Professional or Home Premium.
