i recently came into some money that i want to invest. my plan is to create a somewhat diverse portfolio. excuse me if i get some terms wrong i'm just beginning to research in this area and decide on what i want to do.
i'm thinking of going 60/40 with 60% of these funds going into an annual income system of some kind because that's low risk and will provide me with more reinvestment funds or i can always use it as an income supplement if i choose i suppose. i'll probably end up doing some kind of 5 year ladder scheme of some kind. it's just that the interest rates suck right now cause everyone wants them.
the other 40% i will invest in high risk/high reward stocks. i'm looking at dividends and prices right now so i'm not completely sure which ones i'll invest in yet. i've been looking at a couple paper companies and some companies in VICE (not sure i said that right). there's more on my plate to look at tho.
i'm interested in both high and low equity (again i'm not sure if i got the terms confused for what i'm trying to say, hopefully you understand) essentially bigger business's and smaller more volatile business's with lot's of growth potential.
anyway just thought i'd share that with you because i'm beginning to find it more and more interesting.

No offense but pretty much none of this made sense. I highly recommend you read a whole lot more before you put one penny into the casino that is known as the stock market.
If I had to tell someone what to do these days I'd tell them to go for dividend - cash payments made by companies. Preferred stocks are fairly non-volatile and provide income closer to that of a bond, but more interest for having less rights than bondholders. Common stock in the more well-known large cap companies, Philip Morris, Coca-Cola, whathaveyou, preferred stock and bonds in the riskier stuff because you can be completely wrong about how well the company does and as long as the company doesn't go bankrupt you'll get paid.
Seriously-- Think about it. People want sex toys and people will buy sex toys, in this flawless logic you consistently profit due to someone getting their jollies off with a sex toy.
