Since my internet is disconnected I tried getting on here from a library computer and it was blocked due to "adult content". Way to go guys lol. It wasn't blocked last time I had to get on from the library. I'm posting this from my phone.

    School library or public library?
  • edited January 2011
Like Dfg said, have you tried using HTTPS?
Sucks that it got blocked though - I can't access it from college either due to explicit content :)

Obviously proxy sites will be blocked. herp derp

It's not like they're going, "lolll lets block this unknown totse thingy site and leave one of the biggest well known web proxies untouched!!!!"

Try another library in a good neighborhood. Some libraries let me DL pr0n, while other won't even let me look at pictures on ebay or anything embedded.

Well that's still going out of their way to make that happen. I mean proxy sites are a dime a dozen anyways, I'm sure there are a couple hundred they haven't found out of the thousands.

It's blocked because you went on, the IT guy (Or whoever it is that manages their systems) noticed that there was a new site being visited, sw what it was and blocked it, lol.

    We should DDoS the library.

Kproxy is awesome, its one of my favorite proxies to use when I'm at home. Unfortunately it doesn't work at college, so I have to use shitty ones.

Seduce a librarian and get admin. codes, multiple benefits.

Rofl kproxy got blocked. This means they had to have gone through my history to block it since I just used it yesterday. Back to posting on my phone unless one of the ones spectrol linked works.

The trick is to try and get a proxy that doesn't have the word, proxy, or other "bad" words in the url. The security software on the library's network scans all urls for keywords, so you want an url that looks "clean" to it.

    example:

    bad proxy url: www.imaproxy.com
bad proxy url : www.hidemyass.com [both the words "hide" and "ass" are probably on the blocklist dictionary]

    good proxyurl: www.paintedponiesshadowmachine.com
    good proxy url: www.youcantseeme.com

It will also scan the facing page of the proxy site's page for keywords.

See if you can get a proxy that will load up in web based email. For instance, a lot of schools, colleges and businesses ban facebook or other such sites.

You can sometimes get around this by logging onto web based mail, opening a 'Dickhead commented on your post' email, email opens as web page (if you have it set to sent emails to you as HTML) and bang you are in.

I dont know how this site send out emails but it might be possible that some things could be done here so this would work.

What you should do is make your own proxies on free hosts. I used to do that in highschool, when it got blocked I'd just upload another one and I'm sweet again.

Creating your own proxy server is a great idea, I've done this many times for school purposes. I might even write a guide on how to do it :)

Sometimes if you go on a malicious site, it will disable the library's security. Try this one at your library. A page should pop up that says your virus software needs to be check and do a fake scanning process. Just click out or click the Back button and then you should be able to view any site. Downloading will still be disabled though. If that site did'nt work, just keep clicking random links on filestube or search for cp on google.

Haha so basically give the computer malware? I remember once last year I really had to get to a library computer to get some work done and malware like that had infected one computers then spread to the whole network. It took them 6 hours to clean it out and I didn't have a ride home until my mom got off work.

That just makes them more hasty to install even better defenses. Remember, momentary satisfaction is always a poor substitute for patience, perseverance and cunning. You gotta know when to hold 'em... know when to fold 'em... know when to walk away... and know when to run... you never count your money when you're sittin' at the table... there'll be time enough for countin' when the dealin's done.

Yeah I wasn't planning on following his suggestion. I'm just going to wait until I get my net back on friday and make a proxy for when I need to use one then.

I used to host a CGI proxy at my house, it was kinda slow because I ran it on this junker computer I set up to be on all the time, but it worked.

Sometimes translaters like babelfish will work. Just do Russian to english and 99% of the words will show.

I actually thought about doing that but it didn't work. So I have internet back guys. Not DSL though, dialup, until I can get my DSL straightened out. I had forgotten just how painstakingly slow dialup is.

Also the library doesn't let you open .exe files or install anything so Tor isn't going to work. I'll give the other proxies a go though next time I head there.
