In an extreme case, they can consider banning a user. They are not superusers, they are not the representatives of Totse, they do not voice the opinions of all of us. They are regular users. The only significance of the word "moderator" under their username is that they help keep the trash out. Totse has no "classes" or "ranks".

I think it's totally fine to suggest changes to leadership on the site. If the community doesn't think a particular mod is doing a good job, that mod needs to work harder to step down and someone else do it.
In this case DirtySanchez has shown himself to be a good mod. He's banned spambots, kept his section in order, and contributed to the site. Despite what other people think about his views, he generates discussion and gets people to react to what he has to say, often provoking real debate. He doesn't abuse his mod powers, either. That people disagree with him is one reason I like that he's a mod. Totse was always a safe haven for visionaries and paranoids. It seems like a lot of people have forgotten or never knew that "A Safe Haven for Visionaries and Paranoids" was a slogan on the old banner.
Totse is a place for ridiculous, fringe, and crazy threads. It's a place where people like Dirty can post racist remarks, make arguments against the validity of various cultures, or post other comments that go against what the mainstream culture deems worthy of attention. Totse is where people can post whatever they want, and where they will not get banned for voicing unpopular opinions.
I don't care that helladamnleet had a problem with DirtySanchez. Getting past my annoyance with how helladamnleet handled the issue, I realize how important it is for us to maintain free speech here.
