I got 140 bucks today and ended up going to gun show where I picked up a Mosin Nagant with a bayonet and all accessory. It was restored by the soviets after WW2 so the condition is excellent it has all matching serial numbers and a hex receiver. I will provide pics later today. Also are u mad 5.56? (the poster not the round since some people seem to think I meant the Mosin was in 5.56)

Sure, but it would still be more comfortable and less taxing on your shoulder to use a pad if you were firing a 7.62x54mmR Nagant.

Anyway, you've got a 5.56 rifle, so you definitely shouldn't need one.

There are comparable pistols for cheaper.

Like GLOCKs (in 9mm only), SIG Pro, and the FNP. Old West German SIG P-series are just as good, but are no longer available new in box.

But, for me, the USP is the most accurate pistol I have ever used and the controls are placed perfectly, especially the magazine release. The built in recoil buffer is fucking awesome and makes the USP the lowest recoiling 9mm pistol I have ever used. The single action trigger is only surpassed by high dollar 1911s and the trigger system is completely modular and the mode can be switched by swapping a $10 trigger plate.

Basically, I couldn't care less what pistol you like, because I'm not you. If I found a pistol that was more shootable than the USP, I'd buy it.

And, I don't really understand the video game reference as the only video game I know of that has the USP9 in it is MGS2, but I found that out probably 8 months after I bought the USP. So I really don't know what you are getting at.

What about parts swap over on that pistol and changing the action on the trigger - is it ajustable? - I am looking at the trigger and thinking I would like something smaller and sitting further back (If I was allowed to own one in this country). It just looks to me as it is more of a pull trigger than a squeeze trigger if you know what I mean.

Well, that pistol operates on a Double Action/Single Action trigger.

The first trigger pull is heavy and, you are right, the trigger has to be pull back pretty far for the first shot to go off. It's kind of a safety type thing.

But after the first shot goes off, the hammer stays back and the trigger goes into a more rearward position, now the pistol is in single action mode and operates like a 1911 or Browning Hi Power.

    4925503.jpg

So after your first trigger pull, the trigger becomes much lighter and shorter.

It's hard to explain without a video.

But the parts swap I was referring to changes the way that little lever (with the red on it towards the rear of the pistol) functions.

You can push it "Up" to engage the manual safety and carry the pistol with the hammer back in "light trigger pull" mode safely.

Or you can push it all the way down to put the pistol back on "heavy first shot" mode.

If the lever is in the middle (like it is in my original photo) that means the safety is off. The safety doesn't need to be on if the pistol is in Double Action (heavy trigger pull) mode, as the trigger is so heavy it is almost impossible to accidentally pull it.

Anyway the $10 plates I was referring to can make it so the lever can ONLY be put on safe and not used to "decock" the hammer (Variant 9), or it can remove the safety and ONLY be used to "decock" the hammer (Variant 3), or it can be used to BOTH "decock" the hammer and be used as a safety (Variant 1), or you can have it to where there is no lever at all and the pistol ALWAYS has a heavy trigger pull (Variant 7), or ALWAYS have a heavy trigger pull and have a safety lever (Variant 5).

    My pistol is Variant 1.

There are also version that have the safety lever set up for left hand shooters or where there is a safety lever on each side.

You can also swap out the entire trigger and hammer mechanism for a lighter trigger pull for competition. And there is a system developed by HK called the LEM trigger which is way too confusing to attempt to explain.

Anyway, sorry if I rambled and made no sense, but that's how the different trigger mechanisms work :D

    Hmm IC

Someone who has never used a DA/SA or a DAO pistol before would most definitely not understand how the LEM works.

In simplest terms, it is a lightweight pull with a long trigger travel and a very short reset.

It operates just like SIG's DAK trigger and Smith & Wesson's "Double Action Only" trigger on their metal framed autopistols.

I'd take a FiveseveN for the sheer novelty and uniqueness.

I like FN better as a company, personal preference I guess.

Meh if I want a .45 cal I'll just stick with the 1911, used to them and I don't have to shell out $1,200.

If we could get a Civvie G36 I would be all over that though. Unfortunately the one we can get is nutered and lame, and as much as a SCAR-H, which I would prefer.

I don't make threads about the shitty charles daly shotgun I got for christmas, my 3 mosin nagants or my Jimenez arms or hi point pistols because no one gives a fuck, $50 dollar bills aren't so rare that every dickhead needs to see what you did with yours.

There are no pistols that cost less (new in box price) that are more accurate than the USP.

Also, that pistol cost me $450 cash and a very used 1993 production GLOCK 19.

I think I did pretty well, considering I sold the GLOCK for what I paid for it.

    American .30 cal (30-06/.308win) are .308 caliber.

    Soviet 7,62x54r and 7,62x39 are .311 caliber.

Why dont you go load some .311 rounds in a .308 rifle and try it.
Not sure if its enough differance to make a gun explode but cant be really good for the barrel in the long run.

It'll rape the rifling, but it won't pop. Cartridges that start with 7.62 are rounded to 30 caliber, notice how they're called

    Carbine, Caliber .30, M1
    Rifle, Caliber .30, M1
Rifle, Caliber .30, Automatic, Browning, M1918
Gun, Machine, Caliber .30, Browning, M1919A4

    and not
    Carbine, Caliber .308, M1
    Rifle, Caliber .308, M1
Rifle, Caliber .308, Automatic, Browning, M1918
Gun, Machine, Caliber .308, Browning, M1919A4

And yes, before some idiot points out my "mistake," .30 Carbine is .308 bullet diameter as well.

He was referring to ALL cartridges firing bullets in the .30" diameter range, what he said made perfect sense.

It's like saying .35 caliber pistol rounds, this could include:

    9x19mm
    9x21
    9x23 Winchester
    .357 SIG
    .380 Auto
    .38 Super
    .357 Magnum

He wasn't referencing a specific cartridge at all.
