Any propelled object will kill you with decent force to penetrate, location is the key.
"Knock down power," as it is put, is an archaic misnomer that has been thus disproven, wound/shock damage is of the utmost important.
I didn't particuarly like the 5.56 in Afghanistan, but it wasn't the hitting power, it was range, and that was mainly due to range. You put two good hits, center mass with a rifle round, target is nixed. if you half ass it and hit arms or legs, they will shoot back. It's all about bullet placement. I'm a trained soldier, I could likely kill with a .22 vs. a civvie with a .40.... it's all about accuracy and shot placement. That's been proven again, and again.
