Vineman.org Hosting Service

I'm starting up a small hosting project to use up some otherwise wasted server resources. Give it a look, I've put a lot of work into it and there are some pretty good deals. I also have a sort of customer perk that I've not seen any other host do. Check it out for more information.

I am not trying to be a dick or anything but $55 per month is a lousy price when I can get this for less than $5 per month

I already host TOTSE and as long as the porn is legal I don't care.

Working on it, biggest issue is that I don't know what to put up there and I'm not familiar with photoshop.

Quality vs. quantity. The industry is choked with hosts offering high quotas for little money, but they're basically "fly by night" type operations. Support sucks, connectivity sucks, and the servers they use have shit for specs.

For a bit of an example, look at altushost's (the host totse.info used before moving over to my service) reliability and service vs. my reliability and service.

I also offer custom plans, the ones on the site are just the normal "boilerplate" ones. I know my prices aren't the absolute best out there. It's not financially possible for me to offer the kind of capacities a large datacenter can offer, so I have to make up for it by having excellent customer support, hardware and server uptime. Dfg can attest to my support and the stability TOTSE has experienced can attest to my hardware. But if you find my prices to be too high then by all means go with another host :)

The hosting industry is a lot like the Mom-and-Pop store industry; quickly being choked to death by warehouses that are big enough to undercut us all.

Best hosting on the Internet. Vineman is fucking awesome. I am running another website on it as well. It's still in development stages but my GOD vineman servers are epic. You would be a fool not to use them.

    having excellent customer support

Just keep pushing that line, man. You can charge a shit load more if your customer service is A+. I have seen multi nationals pay x2 what they would pay to the next cheapest competitor based on service levels alone.

Whenever I used to prosepect companies for their business (in a previous industry I worked in), I would ask about their current levels of service they are given, the support they recieve, the customer complaints that they have to deal with rather than the third party has to deal with.

When you can nip any shit they would get in the bud, they will pay - it means they do not have to employ a lot of staff themselves on the CS side of things. People often think this is only a viable way to get new business if you are a small business, but this is not true.

Grow your business on the support it offers, not the price. The price is secondary - if people know they have solid service, they will pay.

Are you looking to get private web sites or business? Do you offer web dev aswell?

I host a couple of business websites as well as private ones, I don't have any personal preference.

Not at the moment. I actually used to offer webdev and a load of other services a few years ago when I started out in the hosting business, but through trial and error I learned what was worth offering and what wasn't. Nontechnical people just don't understand the work involved and I grew tired of customers who didn't want to pay reasonable prices for custom software. Everyone wants "the next facebook" but they don't want to pay more than a decent meal for it. To the customer, every problem is simple and should therefor cost as little as humanly possible. It was just too much of a headache, so I scrapped my webdev, graphic design, domain management options.

As a followup to TheDarkRodent, I've restructured some of the plans so that their quotas more accurately reflect their price. I too felt that the originals were a bit wonky, but it's still being fine-tuned.

Would you be alright hosting a site like the one I have linked to in my signature? Not right now, but in the upcoming months I intend on having my blog escape the clutches of being hosted on blogspot where it is subject to having posts removed and possibly being deleted completely. I'd understand if you don't want a site dedicated to linking to copyrighted material hosted on your servers though.

Get ahold of me when you're ready to move and I'll see if we can work something out

I know my way around photoshop. If you want, you could PM me any idea you want, and I'll try to make a visual for you. I wouldn't expect any compensation, so even if I flake, you won't be out anything more than the time it takes to shoot me a message.
I'd be glad to help you out if it's within my abilities.

Do your services come with e-mail? That's one big reason I went with GoDaddy. Granted, you're $.50 more/month, but fuck it. If I get the same features and better customer service, I'll totally switch.

Using three accounts at a time. It works like a charm. It's using cpanel so you can pretty much configure or add addresses on the fly. Did I mention you can connect with outlook express, MS Outlook and Mozilla Thunderbird easily!
