How can I stop my ears ringing after a concert?

edited May 2011 in Life
So I went to see a few bands last night and I ended up standing right next to a massive wall of speakers  I came out of the venue and my ears were ringing like fuck, but it usually goes away the next day after I've slept. Unfortunately, this isn't the case. My hearing is all muffled, and I've got a massive ringing in my ears, constantly.

How can I restore my hearing back to normal? It's getting annoying now

This might shock you, but this is how I calm down my ears after 8-12 hours of raves/Drum n Bass with Tordek and Co.

From this (featuring MCs for 8-12hrs):
[ame=" - DJ Hazard and Distorted Minds- Mr Happy[/ame]

To this exact recording afterwards with some Opiates:

Listen to music at a very low volume, not through headphones. Your hearing will adjust.

I've currently got some music playing in the background. It's kind of annoying though, I have to turn it up pretty loud before I can actually hear it properly

Have it really quiet, strain your ears to make out every instrument, word and sound. After a minute or two you should be okay.
It works for me, if not I guess go see a doctor.

It's been about 20 hours now, and one of them is still buzzing  The other one seems to have cleared up a bit though, which is good. Now I know what its like to have permanent tinnitus

It always went away for me within 2 or 3 hours at best.

It's been over 30 hours now and I'm still deaf and it's still ringing. I think there might be something a little wrong here! Do you think it could be a perforated eardrum? It's happened to me in the past when I was really young.

Yeah the longest I've had them noticably ringing was 2 days. As in rooted my ears friday, ears ringing saturday and sunday, but good by sunday night. As the others said, just really strain your hearing and that should help, if you're still bad after a couple of days I would see a specialist if you're concerned. I'm no expert though

That's definitely what I'll do next time. I used to wear them during band practices and they gave them out for free before you'd go into the practice room, which was cool. I still have a pair in a drawer over there.

    Earplugs and rest.

You need to let your ears rest as much as possible (as in: as little noise as possible, no music, no train riding, no jackhammers etc.) for 72 hours after what is called a "noise attack" in the medical field.

And, for fucks sake, wear earplugs next time!

    Shit *switches off jackhammer*

Thanks for the advice. The ringing has calmed down a lot now, but it's still going after a few days now  It's definitely getting better though. I also just switched off my music.

I'll be sure to use the plugs next time!
