When you break something...

...that isn't yours do you admit to it? Or do you put it back and pretend to have not broken it? I tried to unjam a stapler today with a coworker's letter opener. I ended up breaking off about 1mm of the letter opener. I put it back, and I intend to deny having anything to do with it. Usually I admit to breaking things, but this is a situation where admitting would only lead to a lecture. So &T, what do you do when you break something that's not yours?

As convenient as that would be, it would be way too hard. All road sides would have to be changed, no one would know wtf they were paying for if we bought gas by the liter instead of by the gallon, theres a huge list of reasons why we don't.

Considering that only 3 countries use imperial units (America being one) I say they should move to metric like the rest of us

Is he really going to notice that tiny 1mm break? I'd probably own up to it rather than having him get mad and then find out later on. Just tell him you're sorry.

convert to our monies, and powers too. but quit changing conversation. what i'm sayin is when i break something without meaning it i will let somebody know that it was an accident. but when i have a reason to, i also will tell them that too. so i will admit to it only if i really meant to, and i know they wont overreact because they knew they deserved it, which would be the only reason why i really did it.

Someone please make an "America changes over to metric" thread.

Just tell em you broke it man, easy as that.

Do people really not know how to do it in their heads? America needs to teach this shit, this is why China is such a large economy - due to their use of the metric system, their manufacturing base has eaten into the American export market to a massive extent. WD America.

I only admit to shit if I know the person is probably gonna find out anyways.

I like when I break something but can put it back/make it look normal again so the next person that touches or messes with it thinks they broke it.

If I fuck up at work I will own up, they would rather know it was me who drove the fork lift into the air extraction unit than have a witch hunt.
Sadly when some cunt drove into a saftey guard over a weekend it was left untill us on monday to report it.

You left out the crucial third step, demand proof.

Deny, deny, deny. Honesty is for the weak. Only exception being if I perceive some advantage may come of admitting my mistake. Trust gained to later be exploited, that sort of shit. Reading this back, I seem like such a calculating, manipulative bitch!
