If you enjoy Brave New World and Huxley's ideas, take a look at Island. It's seen as the contrasting utopian counterpart to BNW (and is very readable).
I've got The Essence of Christianity by Ludwig Feuerbach shipping through UPS right now. Anyone know if it's a good read? I wanted something philosophically and theologically oriented, so I picked this out while looking through some 19th century literature. It's a critique of religion, written by an atheist and a materialist, so that should be interesting. Turns out it inspired Marx's theory of alienation.
What's PI? And this was released on Zoklet. I wasn't the one who found this newspaper. I mean, who the fuck gets raped by a bear?
I'm just giving you a warning man. I posted the same article and I had to re-upload it with the name removed to avoid getting yelled at for PI spreading. Even got a message, not a warning, from a Admin telling me this is frowned upon even though its news. Sad really.
Bullshit! There's probably at least one billion Williams on the planet, a tenth of which who's surnames are Taggart. It's an obituary and if they have a problem with the dead, they can go fuck themselves! None of that necrophilia bullshit, either. I'm onto you sick fucks.
I just finished Cabal as I had a lazy day off today. Started Atlas Shrugged which I've read once in Philosophy of Rand class. Got to say I loved Dagny Taggart as my favorite character especially when she shot a guard to save Galt from the torture chamber. Glad to see that it is getting a treatment on the silver screen over the course of three separate movies.
about half way through with william s borroughs (i know i fucked that name up) junky. couldnt recommend it more and im sure most of you have read it. the diary of an early druggies habits, ups and downs, scoring, etc is very interesting especially considering the time period
Do it and tell me it doesn't make you want to become a tweaked out vagabond.
In keeping with all the quality literature being read around here, I am now reading
Star Wars: The adventures of Lando Calrissian
Because It's all I can find.
It's deep.
Fuck yeah.
I'm curreently reading The Taqwacores, just started it and allthough the words are a bit weird sometimes and take a bit of getting used too, I'm really enjoying it. I'm glad I managed to get an uncensored edition.
If a book can help create a whole new type of music then I feel it must be decent enough to read.
I really disliked On the Road, I hope I'm not the only one... Just finished reading The Beach by Alex Garland which I bought counterfeit in Vietnam. Amazing book. Currently reading Siddhartha by Herman Hesse, I'm really enjoying it so far!
Finished reading the garbage I was reading... so full of contradictions and conflicting ideas. Beginning to read "A Primer on Jungian Psychology" by Calvin S. Hall and Vernon J. Nordby
Good for you, Jung is the man! After you're done with that check out his book: "archetypes and the collective unconscious"
The book I'm reading has his lectures on:
- The Psyche
- Consciousness
- The Ego
- The Personal Unconsciousness
- The Collective Unconsciousness
- Complexes
- Archetypes
- Intuition
- Progression and Regression
- Transcendence and Integration
- The Stages of Life
- Symbols and Dreams
Right on. But you would still get a lot more out of reading one of his books on any of the above topics, Archetypes and the Collective Unconscious alone is 500 something pages. A good book that covers something you haven't listed would be 'Psychology and Alchemy'.
That. Probably the best war story ever written. I have read it a few times now, both online and have been lent it a few times. I want to get my own copy, sometimes seen it go for $200 online.

Gonzo, friends of HTS tell experiences they shared with him
and a book by jung that's kinda boring to read
How're you finding Gonzo?
Is it worth le purchase?
I also reccommend "Great Shark Hunt" by HST, as per the Gonzo post above.
i have a lot of Michael Crichton in ebook and real book form
After that I will be moving on to this JavaScript book I got.
Every time you get engrossed in the story, it cuts short or references some other book he's written.
Anthologies are a cruel mistress.

It's more "Old Man and the Sea" than "The Sun Also Rises."

Thinking of adding an audio book with that as well. But I have little or no time to read nowadays.
I've read it a few times, and I love it.
