Carbonated water

I wasn't paying attention when i made my selection at the vending machine and accidently selected the Seltzer water (I was going for the normal water). It was the first time i had tasted the stuff. IT IS ABSOLUTELY REVOLTING.
First of all it's either salty or limely. I can't determine which. Secondly it's fizzy, apparently because of carbonic acid. If my High School chemistry serves me well this is basically just CO2 that reacts with the water.
I've heard that this is often mixed with whiskey.
Long story short: I poured it out and filled it with tap water. SO don't worry, I'm adequately hydrated.
