Also, does anyone have any more ideas for the list? Other shit probably needs fixing/changing all over the place, but it's hard to find by yourself. If you want to see changes, suggest things!

I've been looking at the forum whilst not signed in to see what it looks like for a guest. We could make some improvements in the Totseans Kingdom part.

The only indication that they are hidden is the word private on the right of the link from the main page, I only noticed it by chance. When you navigate there it simply says "there are no posts to display"

It gives the impression the site is empty in this area, it would be better in the header message if instead of saying "You may have to register before you can post: click the register link above to proceed." that you have to be registered to view these threads.
And maybe to add a sub header to "totseans Kingdom" to make it plain that it's a members only area of the forum.

Great ideas, thanks again Chippy! I'll add this to the list. During my click-about to see what you were talking about, I also noticed a bunch of spelling mistakes in the forum descriptions so that's another thing which needs fixing.

Yeah they all need looking at, I notice the one for SG mentions HB which doesn't exist anymore.

LOL. Speaking to Dfg right this second, I'll get him to change it. Thanks for the help man, are you available on Skype at any point for more of an in-depth look at the site and other things which need fixing?

Just a thought, the headder on the main forum page says :
    WELCOME TO THE TOTSEANS COMMUNITY.
Welcome, chippy., be sure to check out the FAQ section if you have any questions. Also please take a moment and update your with your latest information.

Superfluous comma after Welcome. Superfluous comma after chippy. No capital letter to "be". "Also please" is grammatically incorrect. "and update" is grammatically incorrect. "to update would be better.

Also would it be possible to replace the whole message after the welcome with a rolling script. You could add more to it such as forum news flashes and such. It would make the page a bit more dynamic.

Alright, I'm not sure if I have you added on there. PM me with your Skype details and I'll add you.

In other news, I just got promoted to Admin so expect some nice changes to the BBS. It's such a shame that Dfg is a lazy paki and doesn't understand how to operate a forum properly :(

    For any admin's interested:

You can modify the guest welcome message that appears on the forumhome (index.php) to unregistered users by modifying the first_visit_message phrase.

Admin Control Panel > Languages and Phrases > Search in Phrases > Phrase Variable Name Only: first_visit_message. From the result click on the [edit] button and in the English text field click on the button [Copy Default].

Now you can modify it and change it to whatever you want. When done, you click on the [Save] button.

(Initially you find it by going to Search in Phrases and at the 'Search for Text' field you type in: 'If this is your first visit' and click on the [Search] button)

Good suggestion, but I don't think this would be beneficial to the community. The reason being that people like to use proxies to access Totseans.com, myself included. Users may be behind a filtering service such as those used at schools, workplaces or libraries and proxy servers come in handy for bypassing these restrictions. They're also useful for privacy, a lot of people surf through proxies just because they don't want to leave a trail as they surf the web.

The spam posts offering to sell illegal products are mostly picked up by Akismet, our spam protection service running on VBulletin. This means that the posts never get through to the public anyway.

So overall, good suggestion but I don't personally see it as being a beneficial one to implement

This is for users who aren't logged in. The message for logged in users is slightly different, but searching doesn't seem to bring anything useful up! I'll have to look into it a little later on :)

Also in the main body of the forum home page, the top most text reads

This is right below the welcomebox which says Welcome to the Totsean comunity.

It would look more like we know what were doing if this was deleted.

Get rid of the comma after welcome. get rid of the comma after the username.

In fact get rid of the word welcome and move the username up so it reads:

Welcome to the Totseans community (username).

Then if you can, replace the

"be sure to check out the FAQ section if you have any questions. Also please take a moment and update your with your latest information."

With a rolling script with something like "Be sure to check out the FAQ if you have any questions. And please make sure your details are up to date."

Yet again, some great suggestions Chippy :D You're on the ball, it's a huge help to us when we're trying to get stuff done. An update from my part - yesterday I went and removed all the instances of "Totse.info" in the ToS and replaced them with Totseans.com. I also made a few other minor adjustments to sentences which made absolutely no sense whatsoever, I'm not sure it was ever proof-read! Oh well, it's mostly alright now.

Any word on the theme yet Dfg? BK hasn't been online in a few days, it might be time to start thinking about theming by ourselves.

DFG, listen up! if you're not going to step it up a notch then I'm not gonna keep pushing it on ya. I made this thread as Totseans has potential, but if you aren't willing to put the effort in then neither is anyone else. It all depends on how much you really want this place to succeed. I know you can make things happen, but I think you're terribly distracted (or so it seems, I dunno).

Are you sure everything's alright on your end? If you're absolutely fucked IRL or you've got problems then it's understandable, just let someone know. Alternatively, if you genuinely don't know how to sort something out then don't hesitate to ask. We're all family here, you'll find the support you need.

So, while I was just tweeting something I got an idea. Open, Embrace, Neutral, Non-racist, freedom. These were some of the keywords that I think about when reference totseans. You see there are tons of racist around the world and they're different types of them as well. Mostly people like to divide others into groups and then later on ignore them. In some way we're racist towards, idiot, trolls and spambots. But that's an acceptable form of racism. I want this place to highlight something more open, something more real, something more closely attached to humanity. I want a place where people from different walks of life can come and meet and be considered equals. I know it's been attempted before but honestly I can't see any major community or any major force working towards it. Funnily TOTSE and now totseans might actually be the only example I know off that touches this subject.

I am thinking of finding some way to incooperate this. Also, I would be giving some time to my beloved Totseans today. :D

On that note DFG our old friend NaziMick bit the dust last night. He started again on several threads with his Anti Jewish propaganda. Whilst I embrace free speech and the ideals it encompasses, he overstepped the mark by a mile. Blatant racist post after post ensued. It started when he told a new member to F off as a greeting. I PM'ed him politely asking him not to greet new members in this way, which resulted in a threat by way of reply. Several threats later and repeated racist posts I ended up banning him permanently, as I notice after a quick google, several other forums have done. I then took a look at his posting history. I'm surprised he hasn't been dealt with before. In an attempt to clean up the trail of racism he has left on here I deleted most of his posts. Would it be an idea to clean up other non informative threads in our archives in an attempt to bring the site into line with your ideals?

Well, generally drugs, bombs, porn should be MOVED to the restricted sections. When it comes to threads that are racist (not offensive) they should be moved. Basically we want everything that would drive people away from this place in hidden sections which regulars can see and then we can slowly fade things out.

So for a bit of an update (in case you haven't read the notice at the top of the board today), shit is really moving along nicely. BK, Dfg and Chippy have all been working on the theme (and probably others, sorry if I forgot ya) and we're all making use of a test forum to develop our custom theme on and test it before revealing it to the public. I've been working on the CMS, but I'll probably need a few extra pairs of hands to get the rest of the articles finished. Shit's time consuming and tedious, plus I'm juggling Totseans with a load of IRL stuff which doesn't help.

However the main thing is, we're making progress! Big shout out to TDR for getting the teamspeak server back up and running too.

Once we've cracked this theme (BBS and CMS), we can start getting our name out there through advertising and whatnot. It's a bit of a slow process but we're already well under way :D Good job everybody! Let's keep moving.

Traffic score is rising, I have been busy getting the name out. I have tons of content for the Photo sections thanks to the recent visits here and there. I would add them into a gallery. Would be working on Jacks and Chris work today but would chip some time in for the other secret operation.

what are the limits to getting our name out their? Like can i make an account on some random forum and post a link or have it in my sig, like spamming but not to the degree where the post get removed and account banned.
