Rant by Chuck Palahniuk

I started this book a few weeks ago and still haven't managed to get through it. I've heard a lot of good things about Palahniuk, but so far this book just seems like a huge pain in the ass more than anything. The beginning was decent and kept me reading but I'm somewhere in the middle and it just seems to drag on and on by explaining the theories, history, and rules behind "Party Crashing."

Anybody else have this problem with Rant, or with Palahniuk? The only other thing I've read by him was the short story entitled "Guts" and that was (kinda) better.

I like his writing style but I agree some of his novels seems to drag on. The survivor IMO was both interesting and enjoyable. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Survivor_%28Chuck_Palahniuk_novel%29

Since, I use Audio Books [Can't find paper back versions in Pakistan] I am used to novels which extend some sections.

I stopped reading his books because they're mostly pretty abysmal. Two or three of them are really good and the rest is trash. I liked Invisible Monsters and Fight Club, haven't read Survivor but I wouldn't even consider reading anything other than that after plowing through Lullaby and Diary.

I'm a Palaniuk fan but I know what you mean. A few of his books are like that. Rant is good but it does drag, so does Diary. Choke, Fight Club, Invisible Monsters, Haunted and Lullaby are all pretty good though.
