The Obama administration sure used some dirty tactics o get the world to follow what is supposedly absolute science.
Hidden behind the save-the-world rhetoric of the global climate change negotiations lies the mucky realpolitik: money and threats buy political support; spying and cyberwarfare are used to seek out leverage.

The US diplomatic cables reveal how the US seeks dirt on nations opposed to its approach to tackling global warming; how financial and other aid is used by countries to gain political backing; how distrust, broken promises and creative accounting dog negotiations; and how the US mounted a secret global diplomatic offensive to overwhelm opposition to the controversial "Copenhagen accord", the unofficial document that emerged from the ruins of the Copenhagen climate change summit in 2009.

Negotiating a climate treaty is a high-stakes game, not just because of the danger warming poses to civilisation but also because re-engineering the global economy to a low-carbon model will see the flow of billions of dollars redirected.

    I totally agree... here in Sweden it has been about -25 degrees the past few days...brrr it's cold! I also think that "the global warming"- bullshit, just is bullshit.

    True, if I'm not mistaken all of this is just a cycle the earth goes through, what we may be doing is accelerating it, but then again, as you said, there is no proof.

    Short story: we shouldn't pollute our planet.

    Long: we're on a tiny sphere(relatively) hurtling through space...there's no way to ensure we won't be destroyed--yet.

    Also, have you seen the video where bill gates says we need to 'get our carbon emissions to zero'? Carbon taxes are obviously a scam...and companies can buy credits that circumvent the limits anyway.:facepalm:

    ^^Unless you can prove someone has hacked his computer voice box to say such things, I'll believe him before I believe someone on the internet who thinks it's a way to rip them off for money...especially when a solution is to capture free energy so you no longer have to pay a power company for the privilege of watching a 60" Plasma TV

    All the panic seems to have died down over the past two years, probably because we were reaching a time where flimsy electioneering type rhetoric wasn't enough and action was needed.

    Our PM backed down until 2012 (and then a watered down carbon trading scheme). It's all a farce anyway, in AU our economy is heavily reliant on coal exports. We're going to keep selling it but phase it out internally. It's hypocrisy at it's finest.

    2012 is it, I thought the bitch was planning on doing something THIS year, wasn't that what she was bullshitting about as parliament closed for 2010?

    Anyhow the coal powered power stations in China will be cleaner/more efficient than where they source their power from currently/previously...which was like burning anything that could be torched and anywhere it would burn.

    Although I do think it's devious that our Country will be financing our clean tech with money made from selling others fossil fuel and then as we become green, getting all smug with these people and demanding they clean up their act...at which point we will have found some way to exploit them once more...probably buy selling them carbon credits or something.
