Migraines

edited January 2011 in Life
Ever since I was a really little kid, I've suffered from migraines. They seem to occur about once or twice every couple of months, and I have no idea why they start. Thankfully, I can sense them coming on before they happen, and I'm now able to take some painkillers in anticipation and then sleep it off.

My question is - do any of you guys suffer from these, and what could set your migraines off? They're really painful, and annoying.

9 out of 10 times when I get a headache its always caffeine withdraw so if I drink a dew and take some tylenol or something that usually fixes it up within 20 minutes if thats not the case it could be some of your muscles are tense in your head or neck area.. One time I had a really bad headache and I cracked my neck and it instantly went away.. Or the next case scenario could be temperature.. If your body is cold your blood vessels will contract opposed to it being warm then they will dilate soooo I would try.

Take some kind of pain killer
    Drink some caffeine
Massaging your neck and temples also try streching everything from your lower back and up
Either warm or cool down the blood flowing through your head.. Stand in a cold shower or in front of something warm
Could be your sinus cavities..Do you have allergies? Try some sinus or allergy medicine that may help

If none of that works I would go see the doctor if its really that bad and you have insurance you will probably have to get an MRI done. I had an MRI before when I was younger to see the cause of my migrane's and it turned out there was something in my head causing them which then I got medication and it went away :)

anywho best of luck to you

Caffeine actually can either cause or prevent a migraine, which is weird. If you drink a lot of caffeine, then it might suddenly start one off. However, if you already have a migraine, then drinking coffee might actually help it go away. I've never really understood why.

Anyway, certain food and drink can set them off as well. I think it might have been the champagne I was drinking both yesterday and the day before (I had a migraine on both days, after drinking this).

Who knows. I'm going to the doctor soon to get checked out.

Take a gram of aspirin. That usually does it.

I don't specifically have migraines, but I've had bad exertion headaches caused from heaving weightlifting, one lasted for a full week, I had to the doctor and he gave me fiorinal, which finally knocked out the headache, and also made my feel high for full time I was taking it, great success in that regard.

Yeah I've had about every kind of migraine/headache you could think of.
Horrible stuff. I used to get sinus headaches every day and since then I've been having a variety off and on. At the worst I'll get them every day for 3-4 days but I usually only get a bad one a couple of times a month.
I've been to a lot of specialists and tried a hell of a lot of different treatments to no avail.
Nothing over the counter has ever done anything to ease the pain for years, and even if they did I wouldn't take them unless I had to. Rebound headaches are a bitch.
I've found some are caused by stress, some are caused by weather, dehydration, diet, etc. but I've never been able to actively do anything to stop them.
I guess you just learn to cope as with everything. I've found the sooner you accept things, the sooner they stop afflicting you.

    PS: try acid

Most people cannot obtain LSD, besides dosaging it right for just a migraine can be tricky.
Go to your local botanist and pick up some Morning Glory (heavenly blue) seeds which contain LSA instead. Eat about 20 - 50 of them. This will completely cut a migraine off by its root, while it shouldn't be a high enough dosage to cause psychedelic effects.

May have an unpleasent taste and cause minor nausea, however benefits greatly outweigh risks.
Asshole: If a gram of aspirin cures your migraines, then you're not getting "real" migraines.

Also caffeine withdrawal causes migraines. So caffeine will only cure headaches caused by it.

A 1000 mg dose of Aspirin (also called ASA) could relieve moderate to severe migraine pain, with similar effectiveness to sumatriptan.[56]

If you're getting an insufficient amount of calories per day, you'll feel lightheaded.

My body is weird. Klonopin seems to take care of my migraines. Also, if i haven't been physically active, I'll get a headache, and i drink a lot of water, and work out, and it goes away in 20-30 mins.

I used to get migraines so bad I would puke over and over again,it was awful.
At one point it was like a weekly thing,it would start with sensitivity to light, sound and smell. Then fuck all pain!!
Nothing helped except a change in environment.
I firmly believe my family was toxic to me,I moved out when I was 19 and have not had a puking surround sound head ache since.I'm now 43, the only headache
I get now is my own fault for drinking too much:D.
But even that does not compare at all with a full blown migraine.
Try changing things up a bit, your body might be be reacting too a situation that it don't like.

I like coffee but it doesn't like me. It gives me migraines.
Letting my hair get to long does as well. :(

I used to get them as a kid. It seemed like hunger triggered them for me, but of course when it started to come on it was already to late to eat because I would just throw up the food. Taking a good long nap was the only cure.

As I got older I stopped experiencing them.
