White House calls health care repeal 'not serious'

For those of you who don't know or know me I don't support the Democrats or the Republicans. But this just blows my mind about the donkeys. Their party was dealt what has been called a historical defeat at almost every level of legislature in the last election and they still want to stuff something down the nations throat which is clearly not supported by the majority of the voters.
(AP) – 25 minutes ago

WASHINGTON (AP) — The White House is dismissing a vote by House Republicans to repeal the new health care law, saying it's not "a serious legislative effort."

Delayed after the mass shooting in Tucson, Ariz., the vote is now expected Wednesday. Democrats still have a majority in the Senate and they have promised to block the effort. President Barack Obama would likely veto the measure if it got as far as the White House.

Presidential spokesman Robert Gibbs told reporters Tuesday that repealing the law would give insurance companies the power to again deny, drop, limit or cap health care coverage for millions of Americans.

Added Gibbs: "I don't think it's going anywhere."

    Because we're stupid.

Also, Healthcare repeal is not serious, the senate will not go for it.

We're a narcissistic and selfish people who don't give a fuck about anyone but themselves.

We'd much rather spend half our yearly budget on war than help sick people out, which would cost significantly less.

The best part is that most americans are "christian"- you know, feed the poor, health the sick, clothe the naked people.

    Hypochristians make me gag.

It isn't narcissism, it's jingoism, consumerism, the prospect of upward mobility and propaganda. We all think that we'll be rich someday, so we fight against laws that would lead to taxes on higher incomes. We think that we have the best health-care system on the planet, so we fight against changing it, etc.

EDIT: Furthermore, right wing media seems to be focusing on reinforcing the idea that every man is an island, and that we can all be in it for ourselves, fuck everyone else, neglect the poor and expect to do well as a nation.

Americans, the vast majority of whom are Christian, are by far the most generous people in the world as a percent of GDP. We donate countless resources to our communities on a local level and christian soup kitchens outnumber all other soup kitchens put together. Saying that Americans are greedy because we don't support government sanctioned theft is disingenuous. What I don't support is laziness, criminality, drug abuse, and anything that is detrimental to the health and well-being of the community. I don't support forced generosity or mandatory donations either, we are perfectly capable of taking care of our own. Americans are not greedy, we are more generous than any other nation on earth.

The reason we have so many poor people is because of welfare, we reward bad (irresponsible) parenting, and tax good (responsible) parenting. People no longer have to be held responsible for making bad choices, so they make them more often.

I also like the generalizations, as if people are stupid enough to not know the difference between income redistribution and true healthcare reform.

    This.

Plus, Obamacare would only have hurt us even more...people argue issues, but they do not understand them. What we need is more preventative care, I.E the opposite of how mainstream western medicine treats chronic disease.

But they allow corporations to keep pushing foods and drinks loaded with toxins, processed sugars and refined grains, etc etc etc... while the rate of obesity, diabetes, cancer, heart disease and everything else continues to rise... then they go get treated with surgeries, prescription drugs, etc.

It is a vicious (and lucrative) cycle. Standard American Diet = Disease = Cash in the pockets of the fat cats.

And they are :fap: :fap: :fap: ing all over everyone who is debating measures in Congress, etc. Because they pay for over half of the legislators' yachts, Mercedes' and private school tuition for little Roger.

Wake up and smell the ashes, fools. :o

What we currently have is a health insurance company bailout. Everyone is required to purchase private health insurance. The key word is private. This is not socialism, if anything its corporatism. Socialism would mean government funded and/or run, which is not the case. I don't understand why the republicans aren't for it considering it lines the pockets of their buddies in big business.

Oh wait, its the democrats who are in bed with the health insurance companies. I forgot.

There should be no profit when it comes to people's health and education, period.

The problem with Obamacare is it doesn't fix shit. If people actually saw the law it does is force you to buy private insurance. It claims to fix the healthcare system but in reality does nothing of significance to fix it. All the dumbass niggers and liberals thought this bill meant they'd get free healthcare when it dosnt mean that at all.

Its quite amusing that as america allows socialism into their healthcare system, the UK is opening theirs up to the market.

Take a lesson from the UK - healthcare is best kept between those who matter in it - the doctor and the patient.

Obviously generosity, however outpouring and constant you allege it to be, isn't doing the trick. The U.S. has some of the lowest taxes in the industrialized world, and contrary to what you'd expect, we haven't got a remarkable standard of living.
The reason we have so many poor people is because of welfare, we reward bad (irresponsible) parenting, and tax good (responsible) parenting. People no longer have to be held responsible for making bad choices, so they make them more often.

Which is why there are counties with higher taxes and relatively larger welfare systems and fewer people poor or living in poverty?
I also like the generalizations, as if people are stupid enough to not know the difference between income redistribution and true healthcare reform.

    *Yawn*

Any tax is "redistribution of wealth." Taking money from any place and spending it in another is redistributing it.

EDIT: A capitalist system enables a few people to become rich, and to concentrate wealth, so why isn't it fair that they should pay a small amount of their income to help the poor?

Will this be taxed directly or will the government tax the proffits of the private companies? What about the jobs that will be created in administerting this programme? Does everyone work tax free? Do all the people that stand to benefit from this programme in that it will provide them work not have a vested interest in seeing a government sanctioned program progress?

Would these people not be more inclined to vote for supporters of the reform?

If you cannot see that it is the 'carrot' approach to socialism rather than the 'stick' - well, everyone knows the carrot is dangled in front of you. Maybe the sun is bright.

Your back will feel the stick to come.

What are the views there % wise? Are most in favour of obamacare or against it or is it a close run thing?

The way it is fed to people in the UK is that Americans are dancing in the streets over this, however, it seems those with the loudest voices are the ones that do not want it.

The majority of Americans did not want it. Despite that they passed it anyway which is a big reason why they got there asses kicked in the midterm elections.

They did want it, because they elected a guy for whom a major campaign issue was Healhcare reform. After that, due to being fickle, they turned on him.

What part of no real health care reform was accomplished cant you see? It didn't provide anyone with shit it just forced people to buy insurance from a private company which is retarded. It isnt Socialism it isnt a fix it's just a 3000 page of bullshit forcing people to buy something,.

Even though the bill was watered down, what was passed still effects Americans in a big way. Certain provisions such as allowing individuals to stay on their parents coverage until 26 and making it mandatory to cover per-existing conditions (more than 50% of Americans have some sort of per-existing condition) will impact everyday Americans and their immediate families significantly.

While there may not be medicare for all or anything like that, this bill makes some serious and beneficial changes.

EDIT: Also, the "individual mandate" may or may not end up being enforced. Depending on who wins the argument (The feds say that it's interstate commerce, so they have a right to regulate it (Also, they bring up the fact that one can be forced to buy car insurance.)..
