Out of the tin, with a fork. Maybe some hot sauce if on hand. My girlfriend thinks I'm an absolutely wretched person for eating them at all. I'd eat a few tins of them after the MRE's got tiring. They fit nice in a combat vest though, don't even have to open up the pack. :P
How about sardines? I have to order my own small pizza any time we get pizza because she won't allow me to get them on half of a large. She Thinks the delicious juices will drip on her side and make it edible I suppose.
Why does everyone have stinky sardines? Mine don't smell bad upon opening, or even later during eating. There's barely an odor to speak of. You guys must be eating shitty sardines.

I eat them with two or three slices of toast.

EDIT: Get these:
You get kippers in Canada? I just thought we had them in Britiain.
As for the sardines, warm them up first and serve on buttered toast. Sometimes a few drops of hot sauce.
This shit is the bee's knees (Bigger, better tasting, more carefully prepared sardines), but they cost anywhere from $4-$10 per tin.

^^ These are what I've been snacking on, but I got them for less than half the price.
