Police Investigate Fight At Victoria's Secret

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Des Moines police investigated a fight at a Victoria's Secret store on Saturday.

Police said they were called to Southridge Mall at 3:28 p.m.

A police report shows Daniel Wheatley, 31, and a woman were dating. They had a fight at Victoria's Secret inside the mall, the police report said.

The couple left the mall and started driving down Army Post Road. Wheatley told the woman he planned to take her back to his home, the report said. She said no and he grabbed the steering wheel of the PT Cruiser causing the car to swerve, the police report said.

Wheatley pulled the emergency brake causing the vehicle to spin out, cross the center lane and hit a vehicle in the westbound lane, police said.

Wheatley, the woman and two others were taken to Mercy Medical Center. The police report shows the assault victim suffered a concussion and had back pain.

Police said Wheatley told them the fight was over at the mall and that he said he saw geese crossing Army Post and he yelled look out and pulled the emergency brake striking geese.

Police said witnesses told officers there were no geese crossing the road at the time of the crash.

Wheatley was charged with domestic assault with intent.
