Why Capitalisim Is Better Than Communism.

How many of you call ahead to your local grocery store ahead of time and order your Thanksgiving turkey every year? Why not? For the same reason I don't, you know that a turkey will be there when you show up, Of course every year when you showed up "unannounced" at the grocery store to select your bird there it is waiting for you. There is a reason your Thanksgiving turkey is waiting for you every yeer. That reason is the spontaneous order, self-interest, and the invisible hand of the free market. That mysterious power that leads innumerable people, each working for his own gain, to promote ends that benefit many. Even if turkeys appear in grocery stores every Thanksgiving only because of the selfish greed or corporate greed of turkey farmers and/or supermarkets, it sure works for me.

In a 2003 Boston Globe column titled "Giving Thanks for Capitalism" (available only in the paid archives), Jeff Jacoby explains why he is thankful for invisible hand that makes turkeys automatically available so efficiently at Thanksgiving.
The activities of countless people over the course of many months had to be intricately choreographed and precisely timed, so that when you showed up to buy a fresh Thanksgiving turkey, there would be one -- or more likely, a few dozen -- waiting. The level of coordination that was required to pull it off is mind-boggling. But what is even more mind-boggling is this: No one coordinated it.

No turkey czar sat in a command post somewhere, consulting a master plan and issuing orders. No one forced people to cooperate for your benefit. And yet they did cooperate. When you arrived at the supermarket, your turkey was there. You didn't have to do anything but show up to buy it. If that isn't a miracle, what should we call it?

Adam Smith called it "the invisible hand" -- the mysterious power that leads innumerable people, each working for his own gain, to promote ends that benefit many. Out of the seeming chaos of millions of uncoordinated private transactions emerges the spontaneous order of the market. Free human beings freely interact, and the result is an array of goods and services more immense than the human mind can comprehend. No dictator, no bureaucracy, no supercomputer plans it in advance. Indeed, the more an economy *is* planned, the more it is plagued by shortages, dislocation, and failure.

It is commonplace to speak of seeing God's signature in the intricacy of a spider's web or the animation of a beehive. But they pale in comparison to the kaleidoscopic energy and productivity of the free market. If it is a blessing from Heaven when seeds are transformed into grain, how much more of a blessing is it when our private, voluntary exchanges are transformed - without our ever intending it - into prosperity, innovation, and growth?

I wish there were some members of this community who had lived in a communist nation who could speak to this.

Nobody agrees with this???? Well, DarkRodent, I do. It has gotten a bad name through the actions of crony 'capitalists', but it is the single best way to organize a society. I am so surprised, all I have seen in these forums aside from porn are complaints about how bad the government sucks. Capitalism is the way for free people to do business. How could it be that now one cares?

Pro Tip: If you are going to troll with an alt try posting about with some indirect banter off range before you try to fire on your target next time.

Yes, I am a one post account, well 2 now. But I am no ones alt. I am sorry if what I said came across the wrong way. I was in no way attempting to troll. I just wanted to voice my serious agreement with the OP. I am new around here, and this was the only thread I saw yesterday worth posting a reply too, and mainly because it is not a view I see commonly expressed elsewhere on the net.

Couldn't agree more. Many people fail to realize that the NEWS, is a business and they cater to their own supporters. You never see anything positive on the news simply because everyone considers "good news" as boring. People are more interested in the "bad news" like death from 3rd world contries, starvation, murder, and celebrity scandals. You don't hear about Donald trump donating billions to non-profit organizations.

Business is all around you, and yet everyone is just unaware:rolleyes:.

My family got its turkey last year from a place where mum rents appliances and furniture. They were giving out turkeys to their loyal customers and I told her it was a step towards penance for their highway robbery.

Either way, we had a turkey.

Capitalism works. Most everybody gets what they want if they want it badly enough. The people who complain about it are usually poor and jealous or rich and eccentric. When I was younger and stupid I believed that socialism was the way to go. Really though I was just jealous of the rich and too lazy to strive for my own wealth.

OK so my mom makes me and my brother and sister put our candy in a huge bucket when we get home from Halloween to share. My little sis always gets tired after 5 houses and produces the least amount of candy wile me and my brother stay out all nite and work our ass off so we can get a lot of candy to last a long time. Anyways, its not fare because we work so hard to get our candy only to have my mom take it away and give it to my sister who didn’t work for it.

So what happens next? While its not fair at all to make matters worse me and my brother says that we are not going to work hard to get more candy if its just going to get taken away from us like our rights to have as much candy as we want to because its none your business how much candy we have even if you think its greedy I don’t care what you think just like the socialist pot smokers want there freedom 2 smoke pot well I want my freedom to be filthy rich so I can live in Sausalito with the redwoods and a beautiful waterfront property with a cool boat and obviously not everyone can have this so thanks to the free market the ones who work for it get it.

Well like I was saying we both stopped working for the candy so now look what happens! There's no more damn candy left in the bucket for anyone! Why should I work hard to make more candy if its just going to be given to the person next to me? So now everybody gets 10 pieces of candy which will last a day thanks so much socialism!!!!! Not to mention in communism/socialism in the free market the people decide who gets rich. They complain that this company is so mean lets just encourage them them to make more money and do things we don’t like cus we cant live without there product!!!!!!!!!!!! In other words people who think socialism/communism is the answer are dumb and don’t know there history cus IT NEVER WILL WORK AND ITS NOT FAIR!! If you don’t like the evil greedy companies then don’t by there products but obviously your either dumb if u keep buying there products or u think its worth it so that means either u shouldn’t b voting or you think its worth having greedy people out there as long as u can get there product/service'
ok so my mom makes me and my brother and sister put r candy in a huge buckit wen we get home from haliween 2 share. my lil sis always gets tired after 5 houses and priduses the leest amount of candy wile me n my brother stay out all nite and werk r @$$s off so we can get a lot of candy 2 last a long time. anyways its not fare cus we werk so hard 2 get r candy only 2 have my mom take it away and give it 2 my sister who didnt werk 4 it. so wut happins next? wile its not fare at all 2 make maters worse me n my brother says that we r not going 2 werk hard 2 get more candy if its just going 2 get takin away from us like r rites 2 have as much candy as we want 2 cus its none of UR busness how much candy we have even if u think its greedy i dont care wut u think just like the soshlist pot smokers want there freedim 2 smoke pot well i want my freedim 2 b filthy rich so i can live in sosilito with the redwoods and a bewtiful waterfront property with a cool bote and obviusly not every1 can have this so thanx 2 the free markit the 1s who werk 4 it get it. well like i was saying we both stoped werking 4 the candy so now look wut happins! theres no more dam candy left in the buckit 4 any1! y shuld i werk hard 2 make more candy if its just going 2 b givin 2 the persin next 2 me? so now everybody gets 10 peeses of candy wich will last a day thanx so much soshlism!!!!! not 2 menchin in comunism/soshlism in the free markit the PPL deside who gets rich. they complane o this company is so meen lets just incerige them 2 make more money and do things we dont like cus we cant live without there product!!!!!!!!!!!! in other werds ppl who think soshlism/comunism is the anser is dum and dont no there histery cus IT NEVER WILL WERK AND ITS NOT FARE!! if u dont like the evil greedy cominys then dont by there products but obviusly ur either dum if u keep bying there products or u think its werth it so that meens either u shuldnt b voting or u think its werth having greedy ppl out there as long as u can get there product/servise :o:o:o:o:o

This is a friendly warning Brandon. In the future, should you wish to continue posting in PLRC refrain from your usual run on misspelled slop. Save that for HB, B&M, or even SG. I have edited and quoted your post to prevent the record from being altered. I am posting this warning here for transparency. I will also PM you to ensure you read this warning.

    Have a nice day.

Despite Brandon's usual misspelling grammatical errors he actually made a valid point concerning his ideas about the topic. He wont abide to changing his post style. Brandon making a post without ":o:o:o:o:o" is strange enough. He probably wont post here if you don't let him be a troll about it.

The formating and mispelling make his posts not worth the effort to read. He knows that and it is why he does it. I have seen his action on over 1/2 dozen communities. He is intelligent enough to pretend to be an idiot. Therefore he can post in a legible format in PLRC. I see nothing unreasonable about requesting the people posting in a serious discussion forum doing so in a legible manner.
