"As a man of faith and as a Muslim, I would actually be eager to be incarcerated or court marshaled as opposed to being deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan," said Abdo.
In June, Abdo filed a conscientious objector's claim in hopes of getting out of the military, and now he has reason to hope he'll get it. The investigating officer recommended that the military discharge him honorably.

The military began investigating Abdo in November of 2010. They charged him on May 15, 2011, two days after he was approved by the Secretary of the Army as a conscientious objector.
"It has been nearly 10 months since the investigation started and I am only now being charged with child pornography when my C.O. claim is approved. I think that all sounds pretty fishy," said Abdo.

An AWOL infantry soldier caught with weapons and a bomb inside a backpack admitted planning what would have been Fort Hood's second terrorist attack in less than two years, the Army said Thursday. He might have succeeded at carrying it out, police said, if a gun-store clerk hadn't alerted them to the man's suspicious activity.

Sound fishy to you too?

    Sounds extremely fishy.

I'm going to laugh pretty hard if the 'bomb' was just the container of smokeless powder. As any pyro knows, double base smokeless powder is pretty much useless for bomb construction. The only good purpose I can think of is to reload ammunition and create acetone peroxide putty.

"The Army alert said Abdo "was in possession of a large quantity of ammunition, weapons and a bomb inside a backpack," and upon questioning admitted planning an attack on Fort Hood. Officials have not offered details about a possible motive."

How much do you want to be he didn't admit to any such thing?

After reading the threats against individuals in the US army for openly stating they support wikileaks, I wouldn't be believing anything they say.

But according to other report he got this from inspire, a terrorist magazine that tells you how to blow up shit. So evidently smokeless powder is usefull in things other than guns and fireworks.

Dude shouldn't have joined the Army if he didn't want to go fight.

I've read that magazine. The english translation sucks, one chapter is called "How to make a bomb in the kitchen of your mom". Most of the magazine is utterly useless and is comparable to the anarchist cookbook in terms of uselessness (Very fucking useless, more likely to get you killed than anything else).

Smokeless powder about the last thing you'd want to use in a bomb. It can be used, but there are much better alternatives (Yeah, I've tried it). And smokeless powder isn't used in fireworks, that's flash powder. Flash powder is a good low explosive, and can fuck you up pretty good.

If he was being serious, he could have at least made acetone peroxide. Cheap, simple, unstable (Heat/shock/friction sensitive), made from chemicals anyone can get. Very dangerous to make though.

    Something is fishy here.
