The desperation of this. Why put your face on it?

So on the train today I saw this advert. I've seen them all over the UK not least on the Underground and the people on them must have no self esteem or are desperate as hell. Why stick your face on a dating site advert? Anyone ever used one of these? It's not B&M material, just curious relationship stuff. Just seems odd and widly desperate.

Yeah I know. If I used a website to find a relationship I certainly wouldn't advertise it... Otherwise perception may be that you could not find one in the normal manner?

I reckon that she's never even USED that website in her life, and that she was probably paid for the advert. It's like the stuff you see on TV sometimes regarding people who have "switched my home insurance over to another company. Now I only pay 25 bucks a month!" and all that bullshit. We all know it's not true  This is something else though... Screw having your face everywhere, especially for a dating advertisement!

I find the choice of women they use kind of humorous, like they picked an average looking chick so any guy who sees that ad would think "Gee I could probably get a girl like that" Instead of completely running them off with super hot chicks, that obviously wouldn't be interested in the type of guy that would go on a dating site. Hence, having a better chance at scoring a new membership from some loser.

    Does that make sense?

Yeah I get you. If I had my way I'd put pornstars on there just for shits and gigs. Looking at desperate Commuters drooling over some "dream girl" and signing up on their mobiles would be hilarious. eHarmony prides itself on making people happy in relationships, but in all honesty once you pay for it, I really don't see the point. If you can sum your personality up in 5 lines or less and a few questions, you really don't have one at all.

It's not hard to go out and find a nice girl, there are plenty out there. All it takes is a few minutes to get talking about something and get her interested - it's not exactly rocket science.

There are millions of people who use these sites and I bet some people on here have an account there and on other places. I don't understand them. I guess it works for some people though. I bet that the girl in the ad didn't know what her image was going to be used for. Sometimes don't agencies have some sort of contract giving away your image for generalized purposes such as this? Im not sure.

Talking of not knowing where your face will be put, it reminded me of this I saw in an ASDA store. Imagine the shame

"Haha, Jimmy, I saw your Mum on a sign for the ASDA bogs. You scabby pikey"

I think they e-harmony girls are just models so all the fat lonely guys (such as myself) would be like "Holy fuck balls. I COULD DATE HER AND SHE MIGHT TOUCH MY WEE-WEE"

Most of the girls on there are probably just the same as the fat lonely guys.
