What News stories would you like to see in your lifetime?

I was debating whether or not to put this in News and Politics but fuck it.

I was thinking in the shower, at 6:40 this morning after not waking up to my alarm set at midnight for a work shift - "what would be some good news for once?" as there was a huge Motorway pile-up the other day here in the UK, Dr Conrad Murray has been convicted, and just general shit. Nothing ever positive.

I was thinking I'd like to see the following in my lifetime:-
  • Stephen Fry and Jeremy Clarkson as part of the Govt Cabinet.
  • A cooperative Moon and Mars base construction. I say cooperative because the more Nations, the more we can concentrate on living.
  • Israel settling the fuck down, as well as Iran. Just chill the hell out.
  • A slow resurgence of Organised Religion.
  • The death of Peter Hitchens (Mail on Sunday Editor), Michael O' Leary (RyanAir Owner/CEO), the entire Murdoch Family and Business and Robert Mugabe.
  • A slow decline in the World population, but not due to death and disease - rather due to common sense and the realisation the World is finite.
  • Cheap Space tourism/travel.
  • The reanimation of Carl Sagan, Hunter S Thompson and/or the ability to time travel.

So what are yours? They can be as unrealistic/unattainable as you like. It's just a wish list, essentially.

I'd like to see world governments working together to leave each other alone and listening to the people instead of the financiers.
I'd like to see a cap on obscene wages amongst the corporations and banks, and some of their trillions in profit fed into a global space exploration project.
I'd like to see the pharmaceutical companies contribute to health care costs.

I'll think of some more when I'm fully awake lol

Liking the Government and Stem Cell research ideas. I do wonder, and try not to get pissed off at how people think Stem Cell research is evil and barbaric. Just another way Religion controls the masses

    Why WWIII?

Because WWII pulled us out of the last depression and there were a lot of big technological advancements made during that time. As long as nobody starts using nukes I don't see why a WWIII wouldn't do the same.

Nations will always use whatever they have to in order to survive and triumph, Hiroshima and Nagasaki proved that.

I would agree with that, it really just seems like it is inevitable that we would have another eventually anyway. Besides the U.S. isn't exactly making any friends these days, and without our economic and political instability I figure China will take advantage of the situation one of these days. Oh well I took a few semesters of Chinese so I'm good.

A sharp rise in world IQ.
A sharp decline in religious and cult beliefs.
Jesus Christ's second coming and subsequent diagnosis as delusional.
    Marijuana and LSD legal worldwide.
A new opiate developed that can give rise to infinite euphoria.
People using the technology we have for good.
    Another Lenny Bruce.
Another John F. Kennedy, hopefully without that last part.
    People not exaggerating climate change.
    Gay marriage legal worldwide.
Complete abolition of Christianity (inc. mormons catholics etc), Islam and Scientology.
Worldwide legal sex with dogs (maybe that's just me.).
People taking good ideas, philosophies, etc from religions (including those mentioned above) and leaving it at that.
Both the absence of rich and absence of poor.
Anyone with an IQ below 100 (Yes, I realize that means half the world.) dying off.
No more fat people and no more anorexics.
AND AMD RELEASING A CPU THAT BEATS THE Pentium 4 AND HAS LESS THAN 800 CORES

I'd also like people to come to the realization that things aren't worse than they were back in the day and that things were always pretty shitty, but they should get over it and try to do some good.
