Basically I want to put a game--starcraft--that I have on my laptop to the desktop we have. How can I do to it without making a network folder? Go ahead and flame if you wish--I should know how to do it...
Are you on Windows Vista or 7? If so, you can use the Homegroup and a LAN connection to transfer files from one computer to another with speeds of up to 1Gbps. This is what I do at LAN parties when we want to share games.

That's basically what I want to do--just set up a connection to transfer it...would it work if one is 7 and one is xp?

That is all.
Could you explain what exactly the problem is?
Why can't you just use Windows shared folders? They can be password protected, ya know.
