Estes rocket payload weight

I have an idea to buy a bulk set of medium size estes rockets to set off on the 4th of july. I'm going to be filling up the rockets with flash powder, preferably a standard M80 payload. I'm wondering if anyone knows just how much weight an estes rocket (figure a C6-5 engine) could safely handle?

i think if you find Katzenklavier he would know best of any1 on this site. but me i like to over do fire works because im a pyro, i would double the M80 payload and add copper for a pretty color lol. but dont take my advice you will blow your self up, ask kat.

Well, it has a 4.4N average meaning about 9lbs of thrust. I would guess the 4oz is to keep it high enough to parachute or fail safely. Testing though, is better than guessing. Hold on, I have some software to figure this out. Ok, 5oz in a 3.6 oz rocket inside the tube works to about 170ft, 6 oz goes to almost 120, and 8oz goes to about 60. With a D13W you can go about 150ft with a pound.
