Long story short...I have to use a dialup connection now and I'll probably be stuck on it until at least spring. Needless to say, I can't do the torrent thing now because it takes so damn long.
Lately I've been finding stuff on Megaupload, etc, but it sucks when you download something that takes forever and it ends up being a virus or a password protected file with no password.
What are the good places these days where you can just straight download? Do they exist any more? It's been so long since I've had to use dialup...dear god, you don't know what hell this is.

If you want something, I am sure totse users can chip in and help you. Oh, use dropbox as well. It might save you tons of trouble in near future.
and usenet services (you have to pay a few dollars a month) + http://www.newzbin.com/
Didn't think about usenet. Thanks for reminding me.
The intitle part is crucial so you get a bare file server. Also learn to avoid the words that are often used on spam and fake sites such as "mp3."
If this is too difficult for you, try this handy site I often use to find mp3 files on webservers..

Yep! I'll agree with this post. ^

If you're too cheap to pay premium membership for filehosters like RS, MU, HF or FS, use to generate premium links.
Give me an email or a way of sending it without making it public and something you wish to acquire (be it journals, books or other Academic material) and I will be more than happy to help
Shit yeah, I have been using usenet forever and I have had an account at newzbin for the indexing almost 8 years now I think. That is the best way to get *ahem* digital resources regardless of what type of connection you are using.
