Linux, because it's easier to use and I don't have to bend over backwards to get it the way I want it. My computer does everything I want it to do, quickly. Example? Yesterday I converted 20 videos in an avi container to a wmv format to play on an xbox 360. It typed one command and left it for about an hour. My computer sent me an email and then went into suspend when it was done. I did this sat in the living room from my phone.
I disagree. Apart from some gaming, pretty much any task can be done cross-platform. Anymore, it's more a matter of personal preference than of the right tool for the job.
Windows XP will forever be my favorite, GUI wise, but Windows 7 is slowly growing on me although I still would rather take Windows Vista's GUI over even it.
