There's no other reason that they would fall for all of the bullshit that the right-wing was spouting (government takeover, socialism, death panels, ooga booga!) and give the republicans the house, and there's no other reason that they would be content with this fucking dog and pony show that we call congress.
It's utterly absurd. It's ridiculous, and nobody seems to notice. Nobody seems to care.
EDIT: Something has got to give. We can't let things go on like this.
In a way, I really would like to see chaos rule supreme. A lot of people ask me why, but deep down, I just want to watch the world change - and most of the power to do that is in the American Economy.

so do i, im really hoping we default. it would cause for some actual major change and for finances to be discussed seriously. america needs a wake up call and this just might be it.
Just fire people and kill some idiots and get over it. I am still amazed how bad Americans fuck themselves. I know hope is lost in Pakistan and that's why I don't bother with things but I thought America would be different. CANADA here I come.
I don't get why you guys are mad about them not increasing the taxes for the rich. Sure they make too much money but here are 2 things with that
1. I'm sure at least SOME of them actually earned it
2. even if there was an across the board flat rate of 7% income tax (I don't know, just a figure) 7% of their cash is a HELL of a lot more than 7% of a poor mans cash.
the only reason you want to see more of their cash taken away is you want to see someone else suffer who is doing well. that's sort of sadistic.
EDIT: what needs to be done is cutting government's pay. a Rep. makes over 200k, our President makes an inconceivable amount. What ever happened to them being "Servants of the people"?

The same thing is taking place in every nation that matters all over the world, just look around a bit.
Bipartisan lawmakers eventually authorized a deal late Sunday evening. The debt ceiling will be increased and the country will stay away from defaulting on its commitments. It was a long and tense fight. Many budget issues are still to be resolved. Allegedly, neither party is content with the agreement. The country can acquire more installment loans still though. As Democratic-led Senate is expected to pass the debt ceiling deal. But tougher opposition may come from the House. Liberals opposed it out of fear that social programs would be cut. Conservatives waned even more cuts in the debt deal reached.

In other countries, people are flipping out, burning things down and protesting in a big way. Everyone here is sitting around eating cheeseburgers and watching Jersey Shore.

1. Stfu acolyte. Flat taxes disproportionately effect those with lower incomes. Either the poor lose a lot of spending power with a high across the board tax rate, or there's next to no revenue due to a very low one. And how exactly have they earned multi-million dollar salaries? Did they work hundreds or thousands of times harder or longer than the average employee?
2. The people don't pay as well as big business does.

You will find those with those who earn multi million $ salaries have the drive, mental fortitdude and ideas to do it. I can understand some one who does not have those being pissed off and bitter, but any argument that people do not deserve such recompense is little more than 'its not fair because its not fair'.
It is akin to me complaining that I have not got a gold medal in the 100m olymics and saying that as it is down to my genetics - something I cannot control - that I am being unfairly discriminated against.

It's your fault for giving the republicans control of one of the houses for no real reason.

If they don't approve the increase, the president will use the 14th amendment and raise it himself.
What are they going to do, demand money back from the programs/projects/people who received it months after the fact?
