Looking to buy myself a kayak sometime soon. Will be using it mainly for fishing inshore and to close offshore reefs. Can anyone point me in the right directions? I have a mate who picked up a kayak for $600, and he manages to get offshore in it, so I suppose I don't need top of the line shit. Would also be looking at outrigger/sail options. Budget up to $1000AUD MAX.

Just another situation the casual kayaker will find themselves in.
Hahahaha, I do a lot of snorkelling and dive-crabbing in dirty, bull shark infested creeks. Clear water doesn't worry me the slightest, but I do get a bit nervous in dirty water lately, especially after a guy caught a 6ft bull shark in one of my favourite snorkelling spots.

OIC So it is just a saying of sorts in your part?
Im Australian so people spend alot of time on the water; kyaks/surf skis/canoes are common things to find in peoples garages and if its broken its because it fell off the car or some gronk dragged it along the road/rocks/gravel for 50m and shredded it.
If my government was releasing offical reports on the top causes of kyaks being decommissioned i would stop paying taxes.
