Proposed Changes :)

I would like to make some minor/major changes and I want some feedback before I try anything.

Since we are working on getting new members I thought it would be nice if I just allot some users with different section to publish on various sites. The problem is we need to have some sort of filter or chain of command to make it work. Since, I do most of the marketing Totse gets pretty handicapped when I am offline or I lose my Internet [happens quite regularly]. Since, I want Totse to be self-governing I thought why not introduce new user ranks.

With the new ranks, I can easily assign certain users to different task. Since, we plan to compete with cracked.com in future, we need some editors/marketers/developers and a dedicated forum for them to post in.

Here is the plan:
Change The Marketing Forum to Team Totse. (as Proposed By Mayberry)
Add a sub forum for Articles.
Add a sub forum for Developers.
Add a sub forum for Marketing Department.

Restrict access to that forum. Only Regulars or higher users can view it.
Set custom user title for developers [Developer], Editors [Editor] and for Marketing Department [Publisher etc].

With define user titles, it will be easier manage everyone. And with a dedicated forum we can brainstorm new ways of making Totse popular without spilling our dark secrets to the whole world.

This is just a draft but we do require this form of chain if we plan to take out Internet giants in future.

Suggestions, comments are welcome as always. :)

I'm always excited when these progress reports are given. Keep it up

Also, I think "Team Totse" might sound better.

Looks good to me. I especially support the idea of a sub forum for articles. It would just make things more neatly organized and Ive seen to many good guides get buried before that dont deserve it. I dont think you should restrict viewing on the Articles sub forum though. It will bring in a lot more users when people see it.

The article forum is for editors to suggest new articles for the main page. It's hidden because we're making changes to the main page and discussing which article should go first etc. It's like the editor looks up some guide threads using the search function. Make a thread about it and adds some content/fillers and then publishes it on the main page. We're talking about the backend team. On Zoklet there was no way for editors to communicate with each other. btw allowing regular users will get us reliable feedback instead of allowing everyone to view the forum.

    Example:
How to make bombs. <-- Article suggested for publishing. [By some user or editor] (remember we don't want to flood Totse front page, only the best of the best should be published).
Editor reviews it and users give some feedback.
Editor edits the articles and then publishes it.
The process takes longer but quality control is ensured. It's a bitch to fight on reddit about some guide. It only brings negative remarks.

That sounds like a good setup. It'll be nice to have people working on the articles and making them look better so only good stuff goes on the front page.

Ok cool I see what your saying. I totally forgot about the mainpage:facepalm::facepalm: I thought it was gonna be like only regulars and editors could see the articles. Retardation on my part. With that I like the suggestions then.:)

Sounds great. I just want to bring to your attention, even though you probably already know, that the register button on the top right is broken, and some new users are having trouble noticing there is another one lower on the other side. It might be better to get that link working.

    http://www.totse.info/bbs/register.php.htm

That is the link, I'm not positive but i think its the .htm at the last part of the link that is messing it up.

Have these been renamed? Or relocated

How long would it actually take to get just the top links of the main page temporarily fixed, until the new front page comes into place?

Congratulation to you and Maybury on the new title. :)
Corrections just need to be added to that area of the code. (My previous post)

I would fix this but I don't have Server access. I am just the forum d00d. Hellish handles that department. :)

Well, its great that you added some code to work with. Maybe Hellish can implement it when he next gets online.

Seems like some files got renamed somewhere along the line because we seem to be missing a favicon as well.....I liked that favicon. :(

    Team Totse, marketing.....

LOLOLOL OMG, what has my Totse turned into.

Maybe you want to find yourself a fucking soul and realise that content isn't a repost of a repost of a repost with lovely formatting.

How about first someone fixes that thing at the top right corner, where that green bar is moving too much into the right. Tie up loose ends before you make more new things that could have problems.

Thanks for the input. But the above changes are to facilitate Totse in future. Right now Totse is a dead boat. Btw thanks to those minor changes we managed to get Totse rolling, so think before jumping the hate bandwagon.

Those loose ends are being worked on. Adding forums and managing them is a simple task which takes only minutes. :)
