Rethinking Imperialism

On the subject of imperialism I have generally followed the Marxist line that it is wrong. And it is wrong i the imperialists doing it are capitalist or politically correct globalists. But I have been rethinking it and realized that imperialism does not necessarily go against Marxism. Seeing as how Marxism-Leninism is an enlightened theory how could it be a bad thing to spread such an enlightened way of government to other nations. After all didn't the Soviet union set up multiple satellite country's?

Hasn't the glorious PRC gone into Tibet in order to liberate them from the feudal ways of the Dalia Lama? Wasn't the Cominterns goal world wide revolution? With this in mind isn't what some people call "imperialism" in reality a form of international liberation? When Adolf Hitler who was a true socialist annexed Austria wasn't he spreading a good system throughout the world? When the great Leon Trotsky wrote of permanent and world revolution wasn't this another name for imperialism? With these questions in mind is my belief that imperialism can actually be a force for good.

    That's not imperialism, it's expansionism.

The USSR set up satellites but they rebelled when they could....Tibet is still resistant to China, and Hitler's conquests caused many to not cooperate or outright resist their rule...no matter what system you have, people are going to make it very hard to get it working if you introduce it to them at gunpoint.

^Well said, and any system which takes away freedom, liberty, and the right to to keep the fruit of the labor one chooses will necessarily be introduced at gunpoint.
