U.S. involvement in Honduras' coup?

Does anyone here believe that the US was involved in the Honduras' 2009 coup? Manuel Zelaya has personally claimed that the US backed the coup, and it does seem reasonable. Zelaya was a member of the far left, and he allegedly had ties to Hugo Chavez. And although the US publicly criticized the coup, they have recently expressed their approval of Zelaya's successor.

And after Zelaya was deposed, many leftist media outlets were forcefully closed, which seems to indicate that there was a far greater political agenda than just the removal of Zelaya. And considering the US has done the exact same thing in S. America before, it really would not come as a surprise.

What do you think Totse? Unfortunately I can't cite any decent sources at the moment, but I do have this dry BBC story:

If the government of Honduras was communist or socialist, maybe, but does the CIA (Or whatever agency would be responsible for these sorts of actions) really spend that much time on communist countries anymore? I mean, the cold war is over, the Russians are no longer dead set on worldwide communist revolution, and we have no reason to freak out about communist countries in South America anymore. For me, his connections to Chavez don't seem reason enough for him to be overthrown. Why not just go after Chavez?

Honestly, I don't think so, but I wouldn't put it past them. It's definitely possible. To me though, it seems as though elements in the Honduran government decided that Zelaya needed to be removed and they did it in a less then perfectly procedural way (They just exiled him to Costa Rica after he was removed, lol), so it gets condemned as a coup because they probably didn't exhaust all legal options first before removing him with the military.

EDIT: It has many of the characteristics of a coup (Military patrols in the streets for days after the incident, radio, television and electricity were turned off throughout Honduras, soldiers guarded important buildings, etc), but the power-play isn't there. It seems as though the rest of the government was just tired of Zelaya's bullshit and decided to remove him. It's not as if any one part of the Honduran government that was involved in this "coup" became significantly more powerful as a result, right? All that happened is that they gave Zelaya's constitutional successor the presidency.

Oh yea sure just blame the US any time there's civil unrest down in South America....oh, right :o

It seems at this point that Hugo Chavez is merely strategically too close to American soil for the US to garner support for a war with Venezuela. Every mention of Chavez in the American media casts him in an unfavorable light, really seems like they're setting the stage for something.

Of course I predict a war which takes place on 4 fronts, in the near future. Most people could guess but these are; the current Middle Eastern battlegrounds, Iran, Venezuela, and Somalia. That type of discussion is more suited to Conspiracy! than here tho.
