Lactuca "Opium Lettuce" Virosa [Published]

Well, I found some of this growing nearby me. As I've heard that it can be used to get high off of, I figured that I would try it and see if I got high off it.

This was a big leaf, about the size of a tobacco leaf. I dried it for a few days without breaking it up or anything and it would refuse to dry out 100% but was kinda waxy after a while so I figured fuck it and I broke it up with my hands and lit it up over the course of a few bowls in a crappy (lots of leaked air) waterfall bong. This pissed me off immensely because I had to hold the thing down while holding the water hole and lighting the match at the same time and this was annoying as hell. What I didn't smoke that way I made a crappy tinfoil pipe for the rest. I held the smoke for a while, 20 seconds about. With the pipe the smoke was so hot I couldn't for so long.

I haven't had weed in a looong time before this, so I didn't have any paraphernalia that I took a long time to make, had an awesome bong but threw it out. Don't ask me why as I regret it now too.

Right now I'm feeling kinda tingly and listening to some music. I don't really feel euphoric as in epically happy or anything, but I have that same king of "emotional orgasm" going on but not very intense. I doubt that it will get any better than this without smoking more. I read on an Erowid report that a grav would be good, but I figured that since a waterfall is easier to make and does the same thing (albeit differently) that I'd do that. Haha, should have took more time making it.

It feels pretty good, and the smoke was smooth as an infant's ass. I'm not very high though but it's still enjoyable.


I'd recommend it but do more than one leaf of it or get some extract. This stuff has potential but isn't any miracle.

What are you guy's thoughts?

Large leaves with a high moisture content can be succesfully dried between the pages of a book. The cheaper and thinner the paper the book is made with, the better.

If you can get some natural crepe paper to put the leaf between, all the better.

Sounds interesting to me, what's the high actually like? Can you describe it a little better?

Looks like it's very easy to get ready and smoke up pretty quickly, which is cool. Drying it out sounds like it could take a while though... Any way of quickly drying it out?

I just let the leaf sit for a week and a half, so I really can't help on that one.

Thing of morphine, but without the weighted warm and fuzzy feeling and less euphoria. And the buzz has a bit of a "watered-down" feeling to it, if that makes any sense. I guess you could think of it as Morphine Jr.

If you want to dry the leaf better, cut it up and put it in a paper bag in the dryer, tied off securely with a rubber band. If I was going to try this, and I sure as shit would if I could find the plant in question, I would use 99% isopropyl alcohol to extract the goodies. Just soak the dried plant overnight in the iso, the filter through a coffee filter and evap on a smooth plate. Smoke the resin off a hot knife, or a quarter on a hot stove element, this simulates a vaporizer, and will make sure you are getting all you can out of it.

I have heard of "lettuce opium" made this way, it used to be sold in porn mags, way back when. I am very curious as to whether it really works.
