Nope, you don't. Just use the public folder like I do and host everything there. Example:

You don't need to enable filesharing on your computer to use Dropbox. In fact, my laptop has filesharing locked down completely and I can still use Dropbox just fine There is a "public" folder inside of Dropbox which you can share things with the world on. Just drop your file into that directory, right click it and grab the "public URL", which can be pasted here so that we can download your stuff
