An old acetate disk. Sound quality sucks especially for the first few minutes. You can definitely recognize part of the Soviet anthem a few minutes in. thought you might enjoy it
According to the label:

1. Era of Peace
2. I'll enter your garden
3. How sadly flows the stream
November 17, 1953
Recorded at the Warsaw concerto

listening. On a related note, after poo-pooing radiolab for a while, I've really gotten into it.

Thread title makes me think of those new age "discovering yourself" books. you know....where a middle class westerner visits a despotic hell-hole and comes back a changed person and completely alienated from his former life. The narrative usually ends with odd weather.

Anyone having any better luck than I am understanding the lyrics? All I can make out is "....brotherhood from the twilight and across the sea" around the 2:20 mark. I know the last 2 are Brahms pieces so those are easy.. It's the era of peace one I'm having trouble with.
