What's the bitrate of songs on a CD? I'm asking because my friend confused me the other day by telling me that CD's only have 128K music on them, but I'm pretty sure he's wrong.
A CD stores music uncompressed at a sampling rate of 44,100 Hz; a sample size of 16 bits and in stereo - 2 channels. The bitrate is 44,100 X 16 X 2 = 1,411,200 bits per second.
128 K of music? I think he's sadly mistaken. An average CD holds about ~700 MB of data, which in the CD audio world is about 80 minutes of 16 bit stereo audio.

He was talking about bitrate. I would definitely lol if someone told me a CD only holds 128 K :o:o
But yeah, CD's store music in uncompressed lossless format so you can rip songs at whatever bitrate you want.

So DTS Audio is forbidden in moslem countries?
Nah, I don't think anyone uses it here.
I'm surprised Imams don't issue fatwas against them, to prevent the local jizzlamic population from becoming real men.
