An Updated Study on Drawball Ink
    By HugeDrawballFaggot
For publication in the March edition of The New England Journal of Advanced Drawball Sciences
    February 6th, 2011

First thing you need to do is throw out all your knowledge of ink consumption based on the in-game display of ink percentage, because that number is quite different from how the server actually tracks ink.

New IP addresses start with 1,515,000 ink. (1.515 million)

An IP address will accumulate ink up to a maximum of 6,010,000 ink (6.01 million).

... thus, new IP addresses effectively start with 25.2% of their maximum potential Ink.

Projecting those numbers onto the webpage number of 6500% starting ink, the "over 9000" range could be thought of as encompassing ink values between 9,000% and 25,800% - the estimated maximum if the client would display it. -- Thats why you can draw for so long and still stay "over 9000%" - because your ink well can hold 16,800% more ink than it will display.

Here is the raw data on ink consumption in relation to brush size:

    ==========================
Brush Location: First Row - 1st Brush (smallest)
    Brush Diameter: 2 pixels

    Annoying Conclusions:

    * The largest brush is actually 89 times more ink efficient than the smallest brush.

    * The largest brush is officially 7.8 times more ink efficient than the rageball-size brush.

    * The largest brush is not only smarter than you, it's also more attractive.

I got fed up with Poland encroaching on our turf, so I spent most of the day today doing massive teal-bombing.

We managed to clear out all the red from the middle and got some breathing room started on the right side of the T.

    This was my reward:

I've been taking a closer look at ink regeneration this evening, while obtaining the numbers to debunk the myth that ink regenerates faster when you have more of it.

I was surprised to see the ink regeneration rate increase slowly even while I was depleting my entire supply.

I started my testing with an IP address that had full ink.

The ink recharge rate started at 3284 and by the time I had emptied all my ink, it had crept up to 3291. ... and it continued to increase as it recharged.

While I sat and watch it recharge the ink supply, it went up to 3296.

Ink regeneration rate appears to be tied to how long the IP address has been around drawball. Drawball seems to reward returning IP addresses with faster ink regeneration.

When I tested with a brand new IP address on drawball, ink regeneration started at 2000. The IP that I have been using for several days is regenerating ink 60 percent faster than a brand new IP.

So... don't bother holding back on your last bits of ink in the belief that it will help you regenerate faster. Regeneration rate has no relationship to how much ink you have.

One warning though, if you go for too many days without visiting drawball from any given IP address, it will reset your ink regeneration rate and the IP address will start over with the original 2000 rate given to new IP addresses. I haven't quite got the exact number of days figured out yet, but i think it's somewhere around a week.

All I know is that the IP's handed out by my VPN almost all get 9000+ ink and I can disconnect and reconnect at will and get 9000+ ink at will practically. I can nail this shit for hours and hours if I choose to without ever running out of ink.

I have been shitting all over the French and their blue in the upper left just to keep them busy and away from the T.

Let me know if you want a big dose of ink somewhere special.

Your VPN provider has a limited pool of IP's that you get to choose from. When you get the same IP that you've had within the last week, you get full ink with it. Sounds like an ideal ink farm.

RE: where to dump ink, I've spent most of my ink whitening the &. Its dirty as hell and needs a fresh coat of paint. The outline is always high on the priority list too.

Those green fags are tearing up the left side of the &. So I am teal bombing their whole green field to keep them busy while the rest of you fix it.

Also with my VPN I can change to about 30 - 40 cities world wide. Right now I am hitting out of Miami I think.

Heads up guys, there is blue scribbles creeping in, a line on the right and some in the ampersand. Might be the fins trying to make a comeback. Crush them asap. Hopefully they will give up again without a fight.

EDIT: I took a better look ans it's definitely the fins making a comeback. We need as many people as possible right now to go cover up their progress BEFORE they make it. They are trying to spread out their outlines and scribbles so we don't notice, I'm glad I spotted this.

A blue tint has enveloped a good portion of the ampersand in the night.

Have gone through a few IP's worth of ink on the background. If anyone has ink at the moment keep an eye on the tie of the ampersand at the bottom right.
Totse once tried to make a gigantic "TOTSE" banner on drawball, however, they were all too goddamn stupid to organize their efforts resulting in two crappy banners that got thoroughly pwned by the Koreans.
