The youtube ones aren't so bad, it's the librivox archive which is mostly a bit shit. There are some good stories there but they're read by the users opposed to pros so the quality is a crap shoot.
I agree with this if you're writing fiction or as a hobby. My only rule is to ALWAYS have a pad and pen on me. I've spent time as a freelance writer (non fiction) as well, though, and for that you really need a routine. I used to have 9am - 3pm as strict office condition writing time. All it takes is one missed deadline…
Fuck, I'd totally blocked that movie out of my mind. Good call. Just to flip it around, I thought the book of The Third Man was better than the movie despite being secondary to it. Maybe I just think all books are better.
I have 7 tattoos and am constantly lusting after more. I have no preconceived notions of people who have tattoos. Assholes with tattoos are still assholes and chill motherfurckers are still chill motherfuckers.
Have you read Naked Lunch? They're not a million miles apart. I think it's awesome but I'm a totally biased Burroughs fan. I say definitely give it a shot, though. Even if you end up not liking it, it's a significant piece of work in regards to the cut up method and all that crazy Burroughs jazz.
The book kicks the film's ass (fear and loathing), but the movie still rawks so I'll give it a pass :p It's like Fight Club; AMAZING book, great film. Hitchhker's Guide, though, is an incredible series and a dog shit awful film B|
I can proofread for you at times if needs be. It won't be at the top of my to do list (sorry to be a dick :p) but this is pretty much what I do for a living. Or was. It's a long story.
I used to lecture first year creative writing students and a little trick that always went down well was to think of 3 random items and work them into a chapter. It's good for getting ink on page without over thinking narrative. Just write and write and write and write, clever plot lines and arc links can be worked into…
Hitchhiker's Guide. I don't even know why they bothered. There was no way they were EVER going to be able to cram the smallest amount of that series' win into a movie. Plus it really is a case of the image not being able to come close to what the mind can conjure. Movie better than the book? That's tricky. I'd probably…
I sharpen mine with a whetstone, it's pretty easy when you get the hang of it. The curve of the blade (the curve across the width) makes the natural sharpening angle. Just get a cheap razor to practice with, because you will take chunks out of it and generally fuck it up to start with. I still can't get a true close shave…
I used to spar quite a lot but you don't go all out on each other. But yeah, a good 80% is working pads and bags and general conditioning. Most of the dudes at my old place don't even spar.
It's not glamourous but I've boxed for 14 years and have never been bored of it once. From the sound of your build (not that there's a set boxing build) you'd prob get a kick out of it. It's a pretty social pastime if you find a decent gym/club.
Sorry brah, I don't share ma wimminz. I plan on kidnapping her this weekend anyway so she'll never be heard from again. That's a secret though, so shhhh.
I watched a documentary about this the other day, in case anyone's interested. OP, give me a shout if you want this deleted. I don't want to mess up your .pdf thang.
You knows it  You should check out some Kerouac if you haven't already. HST was quite heavily influenced by him. You should check out 'On The Road'. I think that's the second time I've recommended that today.
It was all working when I made that post. Text files are still working for me but the bbs link is wrong again. I think something changed in the matrix.
